I don't think I was ever so bored in the MA
« on: November 15, 2009, 02:35:15 AM »
Tonight just sucked on so many levels. Rooks were just spawn camping. I assume the other sides were as well. I head into a dar bar and it is all jets. Knits would not leave the safety of their base. I chase a B17 to a factory that is being escorted by a p51 at least 25k or more. Uh Read that again! You need escort to milk run!!!!. Lame level 70 as been achieved.

Sounds like a fun opportunity for some rare high-alt combat for me. I probably would have had fun in trying to neutralize or shoot down the escort first before attacking the bombers.

Was my thought....everyone looks at high alt fights like they are to be discouraged, on the contrary, I feel they are a lot of fun.

Plus ruining a "milk runners" day is always fun, though if he climbed that high and picked up an escort it sounds a lot like a well thought sortie.

Bombers cant win, bomb base fail, bomb town fail, bomb strat fail....

He wouldn't come down to play. I followed them for 2 sectors. I'm not going to stall out for him.

Sounds as his top priority was escorting the bomber, and he he wasn't dumb enough to get distracted from that mission.  Which would have made the fight against the buffs even more interesting for me - is there a way to get the fighter on a wrong footing, so that I can shoot down one or two buffs?

In that case they won the battle, you lost. Happened to me before, but I never though of it as being "lame" in any way.

How inconsiderate of them , they should have come in at 10k without escort.

I find combat at alt above 25k to be extremely challenging.  One tiny mistake can cost you the whole fight.  It really is fun and much more difficult then fighting in the trees.  I too do not understand why high alt combat is so looked down on.  Frankly I enjoy the challenge.

My only issue with last night was losing UDP 3 times .....that's more times in one night then I have had in  6 months

I went to the TA and messed around with a P-39. I got my arse whooped by WarKat and his P-40, but hey, I learned something!

Heh why does everyone ignore the obvious  High alt fights are a looooong time in happening and if your the low guy climbing up to them your in for an even looooonger time of it. :uhoh

Guys frown on the astrowarriors because it takes all that time to climb up, most of the guys that do it are looking for the "cherry pick" and will run from a coalt fight even if you do climb up to them.  Same goes for jet jocks they too are just looking for the pick, and while I am on it the 163 lasts waaaaaay to long in flight (if I recall correctly they only lasted about 20 minutes of actual combat time once to alt).  For me the jets upset the "balance" of the game but that is just my opinion and I simply log off when they get too numerous. :airplane:

OMG!  A B-17 at altitude with a P-51 escort?  And they didn't get distracted by someone who wasn't a threat?

I wish more people would fly in historically accurate ways such as the above.  The only thing lame about it is coming here calling it lame.

I ran into the exact same situation one day except it was a Jug escorting and they were at 20K.  I killed two of the buffs, then the Jug and got to land my kills.  I really enjoy when you can get an escort out of position and make a run on his buffs with nothing he can do about it.  I can just imagine the fighter pilot  and the buff pilot  :uhoh and me   :t

In your scenario it was the figher pilot  :P and the buff pilot  :neener:  and you
