Yes, but he also thinks that effect on the arena should be ignored, so I wouldn't hold him up as an absolute authority.

By "effect on the arena", you mean popularity. I would appreciate you being honest enough to use that exact word, instead of the vague phrase "effect on the arena" in the future, okay? :aok

Anyway, going by "popularity" the hoi polloi think the SpitXVI is like ~10 times the airplane the Ki-84 is, and likely think the P-51D is, I dunno, 20? times the plane the 109 K-4 is...I don't think the Ki-84 should have an ENY of 50 or the K4 an ENY of 100, do you?  :devil

I don't use popularity polls (exactly what usage is) when pondering other questions in life, such as the existence or lack thereof of little green men, or whether or not JFK was murdered by the CIA, so I see no reason to resort to such "mob rule" when considering what a plane's ENY/perk status should be.  :D

If you perk the sixteen what then?

Next will be the Pony and then the M Jug and finally all the F4U's. Hell even the 38 might go.

By leaving the sixteen you give us only one plane to whinge about (except for me who loves it and pwns in it) and so the question of perking other planes before hand is out of the question. Besides the Sixteen could not catch anything short of a Zero  :joystick:

No, I don't mean popularity.  I mean a whole bunch of things, including popularity, all of which counter your claims and therefor you say don't count.  Your arguments always follow that pattern, you're right because you allow only data that supports your position to be used.

<---dislikes that pesky spit14

Perk it higher than a 262 so no one ever flies it again, says I!  :t

No actually I really doubt that by perking the spit 16 other planes will forced to be perked. It wouldn't make sense to perk any other F4u's besides the ones which are already perked. Here's the stats on the F4u1 and F4u1d.

The M jug is the only plane which has a slight possibility to be perked out of those.
The 38 is slower, accelerates slower, turn worse, and is out climbed by the 51d, La7, and spit16. nearly all of the most used late war rides. the only thing it comes close to is the 16 in speed and climb, but forget it when you hit wep  .

The 38L is NOT out-climbed or out-turned by the P-51D. But otherwise, I largely agree with you.

There is ONE environment in AHII where all prop planes are available free. That is the DA lake. The most numerous planes, without a doubt, are the Tempest and the SpitXVI. And I can't say for sure the Tempest is actually number one out of those two. It is very striking that in a true "free-market" and "free-for-all" with most of the populace seeking every a2a advantage, the XVI edges out most perk planes in popularity.

Most popular plane? Probably there always will be. One plane that CLEARLY is advantageous? Not necessarily. A balanced plane set is always possible.

Exactly, that balance is what keep people from complaining too :)

38 and 51 turn comparison

really no difference if you compare flaps and no flaps.

Turn radius is only part of the story. Turn rate is also very important, and here the 38 has a clear edge over the 51:

how does popularity in the DA furball lake have anything to do with perk in the LW MA? :headscratch:

talking about perks,  any plane perked 10 or less is just symbolic, since even when i was a noob (and that was yesterday)  I could earn more than that in a couple of hours.  only planes noobs wont be able to fly for at least a couple of months are the jet planes and maybe the tempest.

semp
you dont want me to ho, dont point your plane at me.
