Military pregnancy rules

Abstain.  Seems simple enough.

Can't find the link, but so far 7 soldiers (I think it was 7) in Iraq have been repremanded.  $ men and 3 women.  All the repremands but one are not permanent on their records.  The single permanent repremand is for a married male who impregnated a subordinate.  Fraternization.

One pregnant soldier refused to divulge the father and the matter was dropped.

There have been several female soldier that have gotten pregnant so they won't have to deploy.  Makes you wonder why they even volunteered in the first place.

Reminds me of when General Mundy enacted rules preventing the recruitment of married Marines back in the '90s.  Divorce rates were sky-high and creating some serious morale and personnel problems during deployments.  Well, a great idea suffered a very quick and public death from the administration at the time.  I suspect this will too, for the same reasons.

It isn't designed to stop them from having sex, its to prevent them from getting pregnant while on deployment in a war zone and subsequently losing another soldier.  
Seen this many times myself, have even heard a female sailor specifically say that would be her intent to get out of a deployment by timing her pregnancy to correspond with it.

There is nothing woman's rights groups will be able to spin out of this one, PC is not an issue.  Commitment by our military is ever demanding and expected, to circumvent that is detrimental to all the others that serve.

Here in Canada, women are allowed to get pregnant while enlisted. I just googled it.

They can in America as well, just not in a war zone or timed to get out of a deployment.

I knew females who got preggers to get out of a Korean deployment.  This is nothing new.  When you are in the service Uncle Sam owns your butt.  Getting preggers to get out of deployment is no different than shooting yourself in the foot to get out of deployment.  Yet another reason why women should only be in rear support roles.

The military has it right this time.  As posted earlier, the US military has different rules that the civilian world.  There are many common conditions in the military that would qualify as cruel and unusual punishment if applied to criminals.

Women get a certain level of preferential treatment.  Ten of us were deploying to Desert Sheild/Storm.  I was a Flight Commander with the rank of Captain.  There was one female Sr. Airman.  Nine of us slept on cots in a converted TV lounge.  She got a private room.  Women complicate things in the military.

To all of you Army and Marine guys sleeping in the open, a cot was practically a hardship tour for us Air Force guys.

Air Forces idea of field conditions is either a room with a tv that gets cable and has a remote but no AC, or a room with AC and cable but no remote to the tv.  Got these from my father 20 year retired MSgt.
