Red Dawn - 2010
« on: January 21, 2010, 02:50:50 AM »
In case you have not heard, a remake of the classic film "Red Dawn" is currently underway. This time them commie bastages "to quote many a redneck" are coming from China hellbent on the subjugation of the American people. And so a group of American teens retreat to the hills above Potomic Michigan to fight the invaders.

I have high hopes for this film. What do you guys reckon.

From China?  When was the last time they invaded anyone or deployed offensive weapons in our direction?  Seems sort of dumb to me.  The only harmful thing China has done to us lately is feed our addiction to cheap consumer goods, and complaining about that is a bit like blaming Ben and Jerry's for making people fat and being oh so delicious in the same sentence.

I guess it's not PC to shoot people who actually don't like us anymore...  Nothing like inflaming racial tensions.  Hey, let's get a bunch of people who don't look or speak like "us" and make a movie about them invading the country!  That'll help.

If they were to make a movie about the people who are actually invading and who threaten the soverignty of the US, the country that has over a million infiltrators actually in the country right now, you all know what country it would be about.  If they're going to inspire racial hatred and fear, and few things inspire hatred and fear like speculation about the loss of home, family, and country, why not make it about something that is actually real and in progress?

Stupid hollyweird.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

MGD once made an AH map using the United States as the Format. I asked him if he named it "Red Dawn".  :rofl

That should be a pretty good film. Already has my interest.

I think the trouble with anyone invading America is that they would soon buy into the 'land of opportunity' thing and want to leave things as they are.

Half the Chinese army would desert as soon as they arrive, move to California and change sides. No invader would have a chance.

This is truely a sign from the Movie Gods that Hollyweird again dips into the remake zone, and are totaly braindead when it comes to new ideas for movies

You must be a young man......... That or one of those liberals that is letting the Chinese government buy more of our publicly traded stocks.  The Cold War was fought without weapons too young man.  When you get to highschool take a Western Civ class, it'll help you understand the world you live in.

And just an FYI...... The comments I removed, clearly show that you are a racist.

their business is making movies, if they want to stay in business they have to keep making new movies,  if they have no new story lines then they just have to rewrite the old story lines. People will keep paying millions of dollars to see the same old story lines, just with new actors and stuff.

I know it's being filmed in Michigan, but do you mean Pontiac, Michigan?   I'm glad with Eastwood's Gran Torino, Hollywood is filming in Michigan.

STUUUUUPIIIIIIID!!

It can never live up to the greatness of the original because the world situation is so different now, the cold war is gone.

Red Dawn was great because it was current, a movie about the Soviets (and other commies) invading, at a time when that was a legitimate concern in our nation.  It created a real tension, people thought "Oh my goodness!  This could happen." now it will just be lame.

Get and original idea Hollywood.

Funny that in this one supposedly China is invading us, when in the original China was our ally.  I remember the line from the shot down pilot when asked who's on our side,  "Half a billion screamin' China-men!"

To everyone thinking this new movie will be bad because of a ridiculous premise, please go re-watch the old Red Dawn.  Classic, entertaining flick?  Absolutely.  Feasible/realistic?  Get a clue.
