An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
In this situation, the weight in the front would be the unbalanced force fighting the transition from descent angle to horizontal (flat) trajectory. If it's more to the back, it gives a "push" at the transition.
