Good luck in the derby.  I always had a blast, and came in in the top 3 till they weighed the cars.  If you drill a hole in the bottom of it you can melt lead fishing weights and pour them into the hole.  File and sand them down and Repaint the spot.  The car is beautiful though, good luck.

Tungsten  (1.7 times as dense as lead)  :D

As the car sits...      4.975 oz.

Center mass is 1.375" in front of rear axle         :bolt:

Denis Didrot: "Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last preist."

But there is argument that it is attributed to:

Jean Meslier: "I would like — and this would be the last and most ardent of my wishes — I would like the last of the kings to be strangled by the guts of the last priest".

I have looked extensively for Thomas Jefferson requoting Denis Didrot but, Jefferson in all of his quotes has never reduced himslef to imagery of the french pre-revolutionairy style combining the extreams of vulgarity and violence wraped in aitheism.

Very cool VM, good luck with the Derby. My son was first in his den, and 5th overall in the pack last year.

I came in first as a kid, dad drilled out an area in the bottom, and added a couple of semi-wadcutters. That little thing flew like a bullet  :D

Hehe.   I still have my Pinewood Derby that was Runner-Up in the State of Mich.   My pop, Grandpa and I spent a weekend building it.   I used graphite and it was Max. Weight, which is what you want.   We had to have the wood drilled as well.   I'll post up a picture.

You guys know more than I do about this, but why make it look like a car at all?  Wouldn't a bullet shape would fly better?

Make a plug in the nose, then load the bugger with some lead weight.  <Evil Grim>

Actually Tungsten weight  :D

And the weight goes in the back.  Balance point of car is  ~1" in front of rear axle.  The ramp transitions into a flat dor the last 6'.

Remember Sir Issac's first law ...... (law of inertia)

An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

In this situation, the weight in the front would be the unbalanced force fighting the transition from descent angle to  horizontal (flat) trajectory.  If it's more to the back, it gives a "push" at the transition.

Science.....  it works, biatches  :D
