Alright, here's what I've been working on. :o

It's supposed to be a replica P38 cockpit. Most likely will end up as a pre-J-25 J model so I can omit the dive flap switch and the aileron booster pump valve. Haven't worked on it much lately and would be surprised if it ever gets finished.

Luckily I know people who can lend a hand with this or I'd still be looking at a pile of gauges. :) I have no experience that would help with the electronic aspect of the build so that will be a learning process.

Those are all real gauges. Of course they won't work in their current state. I've been looking at http://www.flightillusion.com/ to see about getting them functional. It's awfully expensive and I'd only be able to use it in FSX, so who knows if it will ever happen.

But the my words of wisdom are: Ebay's a wonderful place.  :aok

:airplane: Wow even using clecos, you sure you're not building a real airplane :aok I have a whole lot of them left over from building my RV-6. Just remember if you use counter sink rivets it will fly faster. :x  Great job

Need help from the pro's in deciding how to map these switches

the pic below is a cut and paste from photos, I'm trying to decide my new layout for AH.

This is kind of what I'm thinking, and actually the fuel select will have its own switch same spot as the F4U's (still working on that switch) so that switch will be open for reassignment  as well.

Things like flight controls LG,tail hook, trims, autopilot, are done so try to think in terms of game functions rather than plane control... what would you like to have at your finger tips at a moments notice or during flight? and remember they can be full text macros. Oh by the way map and map zooms are on the stick for fast access.

I can actually put these switches in 3 diffrent states, so I thought about dedicating 6 buttons( 1 to switch states and the other 5 for squad members ) so I could set up wingman macros for up to 15 squad members.
I thought about setting up a bomber panel but I don't really plan on flying bombers (like I did in warbirds )

I'm looking for odd items (like dot comand macros) ... /.move , /.set speed, /.wingman  highlight squad, check 6 ,eject, /.EF (end flight) that kind of thing. any ideas welcome

Fugitive mine is similar to yours, still in the building stages, i used a combo of wood and Steele, mines more fashioned after a 109 complete with the same type canopy ( 109 canopy wasn't to bad to make) , i don't know if ill ever have all those gauges in mine ( wouldn't know how to hook them up) but I'm started on it and having fun building it, alot of its trial and error as to functionality and setup

Honestly I would put the map zoom and map/clipboard some where else if it was me. I have my mapped to a hat switch on the stick and am looking to change that around to put my comms channels on the same hat switch instead of the map functions. If I had that setup that is what I would do.

The way I decided to go, if you look in the  pic  below you see 2 buttons
1. radio button is the / key
2. channel button.... with the following macro  (   /.radio 5 XXX  ) this allows me to hit the channel button and use the keypad to tune the "T" vox channel# XXX to any channel on the fly... I don't type in the radio buffer if I can help it,  took me 4 hours to type this LMAO

tower is the .move macro by the way and the white boxes are unassigned at the moment.

In case you are looking for a guy to get some switches for in the future give this guy a chance. http://www.splash-one-bandit.com/index.html

I have been testing some new switches (resin cast) that have a great feel to them and they resemble the real deal as well and the fit is nice on my Cougar. Anyway if you email him just let him know that I sent you his way.

Very nice fit and feel. They are modeled on the original from the actual F-16 so they have a slightly different feel than but the fit is absolutely on target.

Don't have them now...did have them but bought them off a guy who was selling his entire setup for a steal. I sold the stick after gutting it and replacing original gimbals and then about a year ago I sold the U2NXT gimbals for about $200 alone. I wish I had not done that but I needed the money at the time to fund some rifles.

I think I have the contact information and pricing sheets from IJ down in Australia who does the U2NXT gimbals and the hall sensors from Cubpilot. Drop me a PM with your email or take a look here and see what else you can locate on it.

sadly that price is out of my budget :joystick: I think I will design my own gimble system to a full floor length center stick. something in the line of this  stick in the thread below (made by a chopper pilot callsign Jayhigh )http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?5345-helicopter-club-and-my-home-made-simpit

Yeah it was out of my budget as well which is why I nicked them off a guy second hand and got them ultra cheap. I actually made money when I sold them to the third owner without the hall sensors. I would suggest if nothing else to grab a set of those from Cubpilot since they are the absolute dream to get precision short of going to a force board for the Cougar.
