Carp are sucky table fish.

My dad had a great recipe for carp.

Things you will need,
Salt
Pepper
Lemon
Cedar Plank (the type used for cooking

Get 2 carp filets, place on the cedar board and sprinkle with salt and pepper, bake at 350 degrees for 20mins making sure the filets are fully cooked. Remove from oven and squirt with lemon.

While walking filets over to the dinner table , make sure to walk by the trash can.
Dump filets in the trash, and eat the cedar board.........enjoy :aok  :D

Carp are sucky table fish. Crappie, bass, catfish and walleye are better than anything you'll find in most restaurants.

While I agree on the tastiness of those other fish, carp CAN be done well.

The Arrow restaraunt in Beardstown Illinois did a deep-fried, scored carp that was out of this world.

I meant it sucked in the sense that if you aren't willing to do anything special to it, carp really tastes poor. You can't beer-batter-fry carp, it isnt crappie. It CAN taste good, but only if you use a special recipe like mbailey's.

One of my absolute favorite videos of all time. This would be an incredibly fun Winter Project. (Did I already post it? If so, here it is again).

I'm gonna start making my own fishing lures again. Bottle cap lures, jerk-baits and crankbaits. (Maybe just bottlecap lures until I get my rust off).

Anyone here make their own lures?

Thing about living in Ky is that the only season we have for fishing is Paddlefish. That is snagging/foul-hooking (not really fishing).

I have another question about muskie and pike fishing. Since most of my fishing experience is in small rivers and ponds, I don't have a boat. Can I still catch them casting from the shore or dock of a large lake?

YES!

It is a common misconception, however, that you require huge musky lures, this is most certainly NOT TRUE. A lure with a design much like that in the OP will do wonderfully. As long as it has black stripes, green and orange on it, it will catch musky. I do however recommend that you switch out the hooks that come on the bait to much stronger and better quality hooks such as Eagleclaw. I used the normal hooks on the bait that I used to catch the musky in the OP, both hooks had serious damage to them. Some barbs were even ripped clean off.

Just a tip: Come March, long, shallow coves will be the place that Musky reside, especially if it is a rocky bottom or by a marina/ lots of cover. A good Musky cove will preferrably have a drop-off at the mouth of it. Come May, the Musky will head out of the cove, linger by the drop-off or find structure in the main part of the water body.
