Air temps were in the 70s for Easter, and continued in the high 60s today, so I decided to go out fishing... My oh my the difference from pre-Easter. Before everything was still, cold, and not a lot of critters. Today, I found plenty of fish jumping all over the place and carp slapping all around. Right near a little bottleneck of sorts (divides a lake from a river) I saw plenty of bait fish jumping around getting chased by something juuuuust outta reach (If I had waders I probably could have cast there). Nonetheless I got a little dink on a bleeding bait spinner bait.
I had only brought my spinner bait/buzz bait boxes, so my options were pretty limited. I tried a white buzz for awhile, but got nothing. Then the sun started to set, so I tied on a double willow black spinner bait and worked around the bottleneck. The first cast I saw a fish strike it, but it missed. I cast again and *BAM!* Fight on! Plenty of obstructions, plenty of problems, and plenty of energy to the fish considering the strike was all of 10 feet away.
Unfortunately, I was by myself and the picture just doesn't do it justice. I did get a length measurement, and it was 20". Definitely a nice fish for around here
