I've been on that lake many times. In the spring it is a beautiful blue. Later in the year there is algea bloom and the water is green. Great recreation area.

Be sure you watch around you well. That is the lake where the woman and her husband were playing on the water and some from the mexican side shot her husband in the head and killed him.

The scenery is great. The lake is very long. There are caves where you can see old indian drawings on the walls.

The lake where the Jet Skier you refer to was killed at was Falcon...Amistad hasnt had that .........................yet

Punting this one a bit.

Took my niece fishing and the little bugger caught a Fish Ohio bluegill. That's over 9" of bluegill and something I still haven't done.  Go figure.. :lol

Thats a really nice bluegill. When you can get on Bulls like that then you are in gill-Heaven. :aok

Amistad looks like a deep canyon lake. What kind of structure are you keying on for the Bass?

Nice bluegill.

The deepest points in Lake Amistad are around 200ft when at conservation pool level. Many points much much shallower.

Beautiful blue water early in the spring/summer. Green late in summer because of algae bloom.

OK, so drop offs to deep water and you have vegetation in flats. I bet the Hogs are never far from deep water tho. Forage base is shad? Yes?

After trashing the motor and putting a few more dents in the boat Bones and I made it to the promised land...

We caught a few keeper walleye. Ben caught this smallmouth and small musky.

Everything went back except for the walleye that I failed to photograph due to inebriation issues.

Theres tons of trees and brush piles....lots of rock piles....

It's number 6 I believe in the BASS Magazines top 100 lakes...and only 4 hours or so from my home....Water is deep and clear...We'll be fishing with a couple more guys that are going supposedly , that know the lake very well. I'm told we eill be deep stucture fishing alot of the day....shallow BIG top water fishing in the mornings and evenings , and lots of deep diving cranks and drops shots and senkos on points and structure the rest of the time.

Yeah, its a hoot to see a Hog hit a topwater spinner. Actually without even seeing a map of the lake, or the structure, your Intel description is exactly the way I'd fish such a lake. Exception being windy, cloudy days when the lake water turns cloudy from the algea. Then the Hogs might move into the flats and stay there thru the day. Spinners or rattle topwaters would be my choice. On clear days I would be against bouncing a worm rig down a drop off or right on the edge of structure near the deep. I'd find flats with the steepest drop offs near. Points are always sweet after a few days of a wind blowing the food chain into them.

Biggest I ever caught was an 8lb'r I caught on a big suick stick while fishing Muskie. Im not a die hard Largmouth angler but I do enjoy them.
