2 ~12in groupers and 1 about 13in spekled rockfish. It was a really fun charter, marina del ray sport fishing. If you live near it I highly recommend it.

Grouper?!  I'll have to check them out, I usually go with friends and Channel Islands sportsfishing, it is also closer (and also a great bunch).

<sigh> Fresh grouper on the barbecue ??? Now your just tormenting us. I used to make 3 or 4 trips out to Moorehead city NC. and fish off The Carolina Princess. Grouper, Trigger fish, Sea Bass, snapper, dolphin, we'd come home with a huge cooler filled with fish on dried ice. But nothing was better then coming off the boat, cleaning a few fish, and having the restaurant cook your freshly caught grouper. Man was that some eating.

Spent a week with friends for the 4th of July just north of Tampa about ten years ago, we spent one of those days fishing for groupers in the gulf, and that night we threw some on the BBQ and ate like kings!  Groupers (and halibut) are incedible eats and good times are had when you can find some to catch.

Wow even reading about fishing is fun. Any deep sea fishing?? I likes to dive in with just my spear gun and gogles. Clothing is optional.

Just got home, feeling kind of dirty.  Kept a Sheepshead for the first time ever, some folks say they aren't bad so I'm gonna convert him into fish cakes.  Of course the only Walter of the day came up about a 1/2" short.

Dude I grew up at a lakefront where the summer call of "Jumbo"! was always echoing around the harbor when the big perch came in. Back then a 10yo could ride his bike to the lake at 0500 to fish perch without getting shot.

Had a bang up day Striper fishing yesterday, left the dock about 8am to hit the outgoing tide up in Raritian Bay (Sandy Hook) NJ...water was like glass

Fishing was really slow at first, 1 striper in the first 5hrs of fishing. Then it was like someone turned on a switch and in 2hrs, we limited out the boat. 2 fish per person is the limit. Must be 28" or longer, needless to say we were on fish that were measured in pounds, not inches.  :aok The largest was 25lbs, although I had one on that "spooled" me  ie ran all the line off the reel. By buddy the Capt. said it was easily a 40lb+ class fish. Fought it for about 20mins, even at one point trying to back the boat down on it to gain line, but it was having none of that, Just couldnt get its nose turned around and pointed back towards the boat. It ran out over 600ft of 40lb Fluro. :cry

I pulled the trigger on a new boat a few weeks ago, a 2012 Lund Impact 1875.  It's my first "new" anything and this is going to be the longest winter ever!!!

This boat will take over the duties on Lake Champlain and will replace the old 1987 Fisher Hawk 1542 2-V I grew up on.  The Fisher ("Sinky") will make its way down to CT next year to ply the local waters.

I wasn't planning on buying a boat until the boat shows in January, but fate put me in the right spot and I had to go for it.  It was a holdout from last year on sale at an early Fall boat show.  At 18.75 feet, it went for a price I expected to pay for a 17' boat.  It happened to be for sale at a local dealer, where I had intended to service whatever boat I bought, anyway, and extra space between it and the next model smaller means I can have three rows of seating and a boat rated for 6 passenger.  I'm not under any illusions of taking three rows of adults out, but considering that I grew up cramped on a 15.5" boat, this one will have plenty of room for me, my wife, two kids, grandpa and the dog.

I was too excited to take decent pictures, but you get the idea :D
