Went fishing with my brother this past weekend. The lake was rising from all the severe storms and we didn't catch much but a few small catfish, which we ended up throwing back.  Then on our way out yesterday we spotted two nice little ponds, and stopped to fish them.  Caught a 4 pound bass my first cast, and a 3 pound on my second.  Plastic worms, pumpkin spice color.  For the next three hours we caught the absolute hell out of bass, the smallest at a pound and the largest at 5 pounds.  I ended up with 14 bass and two big bluegill, my brother, not as used to artificial, ended up with 6 bass and one bluegill.  Best three hours fishing I've ever had.  Made the entire trip worthwhile.

Nice Madda - had my first fishing/camping trip this weekend also. 4 days off work, got to the campground on Thursday, set up and went to the lake (Lake Fulmor in Idyllwyld, CA). In a 3 hour session, ended up with 15 fish, 5 keepers. Got up early Friday for a 3 hour morning session, 18 fish, 3 keepers. Took some time to hike a couple of trails with the wife, got back to the lake at 3pm, 12 fish, 4 keepers.

Not a majorly large fish among em, but fun. Went to Lake Hemet on Saturday, had a 5 hour session in a boat (cost me a whole 30 dollars lol....cheap as chips) - 3 bass, 1 bluegill, and a couple of trout - all went back to live another day. Biggest bass was around 11 inches, damn they hit hard - used a plastic lure slow retrieved along the bottom - first one made me jump at how hard it hit.

Fantastic weekend, great company, great fishing, what could possibly be better?

Sounds like a great long weekend Wurz!  :aok

I've got a week off coming up this month with no plans other than trying to hit as many different bodies of water as I can.  Although I'm sure the wife will find a way to squeeze in some yard-work for me.   :furious

I put a beat down on the trout on Saturday but my reel felt like it was about to explode so now I have a care package coming from Cabelas.

In slightly related news a houseboat with 11 people on board lost power above the dam today and got sucked through the roller gates.  Everyone is ok I guess.  I happened to be by there about 10 minutes after it happened.

That's what scares me when I'm fishing these Dam's like I do around here . I lost one boat up in TN . I was tied up the the wall and they turned the water on and I could not get the boat untied ..

2 ~12in groupers and 1 about 13in spekled rockfish. It was a really fun charter, marina del ray sport fishing. If you live near it I highly recommend it.

That second pic looks like a bluegill of a different color. Beautiful fish!

Heck, I'd just as soon cut the line and let the guy have a chance than keep him on and give him none. Pretty impressive, though. Nature's a B**** sometimes.

Had that to happen to me and my father . Father had a 22 foot jet boat we use to carry down to Deston FL every year and go king and snapper fishing . Well we had just gotten into some Red Snapper and were tearing them up around 300 feet deep two at a time then all of a sudden they quit . Could not figure out what happen then about that time father's rod jerked so hard it like to put him out of the boat . Then the line went limp . He said well he must of got off and about that time here he come flying out of the water . About a 10 foot shark . He played with him around an hour before we lost him . What a blast it was .
