So how did it go Flench?  I went trout fishing for a couple hours, good day, and I got some bonus protein thanks to all the gnats that flew down my throat and up my nose.
To each their pwn.

I don't have pictures ready, but I spent last week at Sportsman's Cove Lodge on Prince of Wales island, Alaska.  It was pretty early in the year, so we kept hearing that the fish weren't that big or plentiful, which was crazy to me when you consider we all (6 of us) brought home 45lbs of salmon and halibut for the ice chest...  We signed up already to go again next August.

What really set the place apart was the customer service - bar none the finest I've ever experienced in my life from the instant you touch down until the instant you leave.  They were attentive to our every need with alacrity (and we traveled with my father's PITA "female travel buddy," so there were plenty).  The place is owned by an old navy pilot who basically runs a friendly military operation where every detail is attended to and every conceivable situation accounted for.  Pretty remarkable when you consider that every supply needs to take a float plane or two-hour boat ride to get there.

Our deckhand was this amazing 19-year-old kid who somehow managed to get his associates degree while he was in high school (I guess Alaska has a program for go-getters to do this), who rose at 4:30 or so each morning, and who kept working until past 7:00 p.m.  He had the boat completely spotless for us each morning and showed the patience of Job with dealing with our needs.  If I ever make it to a point in my career where I am in charge of hiring people, and I see that someone worked as a deckhand for any length of time, I don't think I'll need to bother with the other resumes.  I've never met a better employee in my life.

Anyway, if any of you want to check it out, www.alaskasbestlodge.com .  They do say that there are better places to catch bigger fish up there, but they've made a point of carving their niche with the customer service angle.  If you want to travel north with the wife and kids, this is definitely the place you want to visit.

You scared them, and the word is out in fishville.  Somewhere under the water at the local fish post office is a wanted poster with your pic on it :D

Well be hitting the lake in the morning . Along with another 200 boat's , lol . The Crappie are hitting like MAD ! . Funny thing  though . They will not hit anything but Bandits crank bait's . Will post pic's when I get in . I will have 3 people in the boat so we will be able to keep 60 fish as long as their better than 12 inches .

You guys don't use minnows?

No ammo I don't . I troll Bandit crank-bait's . Hot pink is the color there hitting . I have around 100 of them all different color's .. You just have to find the color there hitting . The cost went up on the plug's tho . There around 6 buck's each now . I pull them at 1.8 mph .

Let me add if you men ever try to troll like were all doing down south here for crappie . Walmart has those Bandit plug's . Get the 300 series plug's . They say they run 10 to 15 feet deep . Then I use 10 pound test yellow line for my reel where I can see it . Then when you go to put them out check and make sure the new plug is running strate . If not bend the little ring that's made to the plug where the line goes one way or another . Keep doing that until it runs right .
Now once you have your boat up to speed ( around 1.8mph) let out 150 yard's of line ,put rod in fish holder and kick back . I was going to go but something came up . I got to go do .

A 45lb halibut is no big deal up there. Probably why he was apologizing. The ones we caught off Unimak were around that size and we caught several that day, but that was 33 years ago. :old:
