Spit XVI's are good, but they are a compromise in every way.
1) Speed - almost everything can catch you so you are committed to fight about 70% of all cons you see.
2) Loadout - Hispanos are truly awesome in the "giving hurt" department, but you only have 240 of them to share. as for the 50 cals - 500 rounds don't give much joy - so you have to be very sparing in ammo use - unlike many other rides and convergence is also an issue.
3) Range - Here's the catch - A tankful of fuel makes your ride wallow at anything under about 300mph.
4) Damage - very fragile - I sometimes think the oil lines are modelled on cardboard tube. One hit and you have about 7 minutes with a dirty wind shield before you become a glider.
5) Over the nose view - awful.
6) Rear View - not much better.
But they are so smooth in turns and if you come in with an E advantage you can be assured that unless you make very fudamental errors you'll retain that advantage through the fight. And the climb rate is superb against almost anything. And given the right circumstances you can turn with almost anything (within reason). I think they are the easiest ride in the game. easy is probably a bad choice - most forgiving.
The ultimate upside is that by flying only them you can embarrass your squaddies who hate the fact you always fly them but are too well mannered to mention it.
