as dumb as this is gonna sound....would you believe i never thougth to ho a bomber? i sit there, and try to get myself some nice dive/slash attacks.......
Cap in all honesty if you think about it its simple. your can pound rounds into the wing root, unless you hit it enough to sever the wing the bomber can still fly. you can blast off 85% of the tail the bomber can still fly, you can smoke 3 of 4 engines (or 1 of 2) and the bomber can still fly, but if the pilots are dead who is there to fly the plane?
the best attacks i have watched are those of a skilled pilot diving almost straight down (approximately a 15 degree angle) coming from the back of the bomber and angling towards the front with lead. as they get within 800 or so they pull the trigger and the cockpit of the bomber lights up. a second later boom the bomber keals over and heads for the dirt. the attacker pulls up on the stick banking up and away, wash, rinse, repeat. another benifit from attacking from such a high steep angle is that it minimizes the number of guns the bomber group can bring to bear against you as well as your angle of attack from his perspective is very deceptive and makes you and even more difficult target for him to lead properly for a solid hit on you.
