Am I the only one who doesn't get the whole Zombie thing?

While the carolers were at most 'slightly' humorous, the rest of the video was just... kind of dumb.

Don't get me wrong I got a kick out of Zombieland, but I just don't understand this whole Zombie Craze going on and all.  Heck, there are places ever selling novelty "Zombie survival kits" at non-novelty prices!

I have a "zombie survival kit" I made myself consisting of 3 MREs, a K-bar, and a couple rounds of .50 cal... (No gun to shoot them from, lol). I don't actually intend to use it for zombies, but it will be useful in any type of disaster!

I do too!, I have an aluminium reinforced Base ball bat (no guns till 18 in Aussie), Tinned food, knife, First aid kit, and basics.

Will work on getting to the barracks nearby to either meet up with the military, or jack the guns from their armoury.  :devil

I've been in on a zombie craze for the better part of my life.  Zombie fiction combines elements of many fantastic themes, worldwide apocalypse, total breakdown of all society, monsters, survival themes, religious/supernatural overtones, etc.  Frequently the books and movies and shows that feature zombies also hold a pretty interesting lens through which you can examine the current society's various anxieties.  Good entertaining movies and food for thought built right in, not to mention the social commentary.  What's not to love?

As far as survival plans, I've been working on those for years.

The must have equipment right now is a good 22 rifle and a backpack full of ammo for it, a good quality crobar, this two handed high carbon steel and polycarbonate machete from Cold Steel (cheap too!) a bunch of MREs and binoculars, and a mountain bike too.

Depending on the outbreak severity and anticipated duration, I have two pretty good go to plans.  Find a fair sized two story house, black out all the upper windows, bring a few ladders and all possible supplies up to the second floor, knock out the staircase.  It would be possible to ride it out a good while there.  The second involves the stone warehouse buildings on the fringes of towns, stone and concrete buildings, steel doors and no windows and tons of space.  Very very secure and with room for every possible bit of supplies you could possibly get.

I don't know how much a .22 would do on zombies. From what i've seen in the zombie games and movies, zombies don't really have 'critical points' like brains which just need a little plinking to kill. You usually have to destroy the entire head, in which case I would suggest something along the lines of a nice 12ga shot gun with a mix of buck shot and slugs, as well as a good 'ole fashioned flame thrower.

From my present location in Texas, my plan would be:

I've got the MREs and K-bar already. Use those to get across town to Camp Mabrey and raid the armory there. Once I raid the armory, I will hole up in the Texas Military Museum, where I will plan on sleeping in one of the old tanks, and stow all my critical supplies in the other armored vehicles. I can venture out during the day to retrieve more MREs and ammo from the supply depot on base, and try to hook up with other Midshipmen and Active Duties. From there, we secure ourselves in the museum until the outbreak subsides. If the zombies come in, we shoot as many as we can coming through the doors or windows. If we get over-run, everyone locks themselves in a tank with the MREs. There's air and water, and the zombies aren't going to get in after us! Then it's just a matter of waiting...
