Am I the only one who doesn't get the whole Zombie thing?
While the carolers were at most 'slightly' humorous, the rest of the video was just... kind of dumb.
Don't get me wrong I got a kick out of Zombieland, but I just don't understand this whole Zombie Craze going on and all. Heck, there are places ever selling novelty "Zombie survival kits" at non-novelty prices!
I've been in on a zombie craze for the better part of my life. Zombie fiction combines elements of many fantastic themes, worldwide apocalypse, total breakdown of all society, monsters, survival themes, religious/supernatural overtones, etc. Frequently the books and movies and shows that feature zombies also hold a pretty interesting lens through which you can examine the current society's various anxieties. Good entertaining movies and food for thought built right in, not to mention the social commentary. What's not to love?
As far as survival plans, I've been working on those for years.
The must have equipment right now is a good 22 rifle and a backpack full of ammo for it, a good quality crobar, this two handed high carbon steel and polycarbonate machete from Cold Steel (cheap too!)

a bunch of MREs and binoculars, and a mountain bike too.
Depending on the outbreak severity and anticipated duration, I have two pretty good go to plans. Find a fair sized two story house, black out all the upper windows, bring a few ladders and all possible supplies up to the second floor, knock out the staircase. It would be possible to ride it out a good while there. The second involves the stone warehouse buildings on the fringes of towns, stone and concrete buildings, steel doors and no windows and tons of space. Very very secure and with room for every possible bit of supplies you could possibly get.
