bombers
« on: January 13, 2011, 04:03:00 PM »
Hi all,  just a note to say how sucky some bomber pilots tactics have become.

In the last few days a number of players have deliberately destroyed 2 of their bombers by frantic manouvers, just so chasing fighter can record only one kill.  Worse I had a player destroy all three bombers (after i chased him for two sectors) then send me a PM laughing that i get the three prox kills but no points.

I find it very hard to kill bombers (esp in my la7) and they mostly kill me, why cheat to make it harder or less rewarding for the fighter pilot to kill you, when its already quite difficult.  If this behaviour continues to grow then no one will engage bombers and you will be flying around by yourselves.  We could then rename the game bomber ace!

It is a Chalenge.

Don't think of it as denied kills for you. Proximity kills don't get you anything anyway. Think of it as three deaths for the bomber guy and instead of landing his sortie for 100% of his points, he only collects 25% of his accumulated points for that sortie (if he damaged anything, of course). So basically he flew all that way and wasted all that time for very little gain.

If you get altitude and position yourself between the bomber and his target, he'll be less inclined to bail. Killing a bomber BEFORE he gets to the target is the ultimate win. He doesn't damage the target. He gets three deaths, you get three kills and if you land them, it's 100% points for you and WTG's all around.

speaking of this...why is it that you can "lose" your drones anyways? why cant drones pull off the same crazy manuevers your own plane does?all 3 are in the same plane. is it game mechanics that dont allow it?

Trust me, you really, REALLY don't want this. If you think it's bad now wait until I invert my B25C formation so I can use the top turret like belly gun.  :D

we're both b25 lovers beefcake  :aok i love when planes come in ALLMOST level with the tail,(cowering just out of reach of the top turret). they forget how effective it can be to just tilt the bomber to get a shot.  :lol

A kill is a kill.

I try to at least spray all of them as they pass.  Let them bail.   :devil

The proper response to the PM would be: "What are these "points" you speak of?  You're still dead and I'm not.  YP"

Look at it this way, while you "command" the bomber group, your only flying the lead buff and the pilot of the other planes are just trying to keep up with you.  While buffs are tuff they were NEVER meant to be flown like a fighter. The only reason you CAN pull off some of those maneuvers is because they are so tough. I think if buffs are flown like a fight with hard maneuvers I think ALL guns should become disabled because flopping a bomber around like that should throw your gunners all over the place and if not killing them out right, they should at least be heavily incapacitated.

go to the training arena.......there's plenty of guys there that can help you improve your tactics against bombers.

+1  :aok

Bombers should be flown as Bombers.. The maneuvers preformed should have an effect on the crew.. It's the same as blacking out in a fighter, you pull too many G's, you black out.. You barrel roll a level bomber, your gunners are gone.. In a perfect world..  :salute

If you know what you're doing, a buff driver can still turn on a dime AND keep his drones.

ty for replies, dont feel like it was only me it was happing to anymore.

I know the tactics i should employ for bombers, but placing my self in the correct spot is the problem.  Ok if im planning to track and chase them, its when i come across them during a battle. I find myself torn between a futile attempt at protecting the base or just letting them go if im not in the perfect spot.
