Frustrating night last night. Was hard to find a fight where the enemy wasnt spending half is time hiding in the ack. Or that wasnt just full of people that felt it necessary to rescue me from the people I was chasing even after I told em I had them.
Be nice if some of em were as good at clearing my six instead LOL

LOL Im making a list of people I'm going to rob kills from or let get shot down when Im back in my D9. Mostly relatively new names.

Also frustrating when you disassemble a plane to disintegration only to get an assist. Cant help but get the "I've been robbed" feeling

Also notice that as soon as I do get a kill I seem to attract ALOT of attention. Could be my imagination though.

Fun ride, The most frustrating thing lately is simply finding a decent fight. And I dont think that would have changed much even if I were in a more uber plane. Its all been mostly either way too many friendies or way too many enemies with a decent fight or two inbetween.

I think I'll end up doing better then the .5 K/D ratio. That Grizz mentioned But based on how the fights have been overall getting over 1 is going to be problematic at best

Meant to give an AAR last night but got sidetracked with something else.

Was a much better night with much better fights with  landings of 3,4 and 3 kills. two of em I remembered to take screen shots of.
By "much better fights" I mean relatively balanced in numbers. Too many friendlies means too many fighting for the same scraps.
Too many enemies means constant gangbangs.
That being said from a manuvering standpoint. Even when being ganged by 2,3& 4 planes with no real hope of survival I found myself able holding my own and as often as not found myself getting killed so much by the planes I was fighting as much as the late arrivals.
Still, win loose or draw. Fun fights.

One lesson I learned. Cant fire in quick, short bursts. Guess Im too used to the cannons where a quick burst can take a wing off. With the 202 once you get a guns solution and are getting hits. Maintain the burst while getting hits as long as possible. You may not bring him immediately down all the time. But you vastly increase your chances of getting awarded the kill.

BTW Manages to get my K/d up to something like .7020 or something like that.

Lets see if I can maintain or improve on it tonight.

I've got what? 2 days to go?
My goal is 1.0 or better

Dont think I'll quite make it. But Im having fun trying.

But this plane can and will turn with any plane in the game bar none. And you can pull off some pretty amazing maneuvers with it. If this thing had some guns. It would be one of the most uber rides in the game

Another thing.  The two 12.7mms fire some weird Italian cartridge with a mouse-size explosive charge.  You will notice that they are far more effective at ranges 200 yards and less than they are further out.

The 202 is a "sleeper" and a very capable aircraft. Now the P40B on the other hand is a real MANS POS  :)

BTW Dred if you can't find a fight, maybe it's cause you take it to the enemy base, try upping against the cap and gang! I guarantee you'll find plenty-O-fight  :salute

Finding fights is not the problem. Its finding decent fights where there arent an overwhelming number of friendlies or enemies.

Too many friendlies and everyone wants to clear my 12. Or all the enemy is doing is hanging in their ack. Too many enemies and its hopeless of having any kind of chance at all.

Its not the 2 or 3 that bother me so much. Its when the 4th 5th and 6th jump in too.

Had a good 1 V 2 against 2 ponies last night. Think I even have the film of it.

They were high picking on low guys so I attacked them. Or they attacked me I forget which. Anyway They made their passes B&Zing then finally one of em got frustrated and he stayed low trying to turn with me and I got a bunch of hits on him. think I ended up pilot wounding him as suddenly he went straight and level and bugged out on me toward his CV that was off shore.
I initially thought he was just extending while the other one came in for another pass. I avoided that and turned to meet the first one only to see him still flying away.
Went a couple more turns with the other pony. Landed a couple pings on him and I dont know if I wounded him to or if he had other things to do because suddenly he bugged out too.

Ended up with 2 kills that flight. the second one being an F4 that was trying to hit the base. Figured then was a good time to land went gear down and on final when I suddenly realised it had just been captured. I tried to get the hell out of dodge as ack started firing at me. It soon hit and gave me a damned pilot wound and some wing damage.

So I set it on autopilot and headed to the nearest friendly base almost 2 sectors away dealing with the blackouts the whole way. Finally made it to a friendly base and I'm just coming in on final when I got the all too predicable final approach blackout that seems to happen every single time you get a PW. Man I hate those damn PWs about as much as HT hates political chat in the O'club.  LOL
Anyway, ended up augering my 2 kills instead of landing them.

I find the 202 has plenty of power. In fact I often end up reducing throttle a bit once the fight is joined.

That is more and more the situation; either 1v10 or 10v1.

My best C.202 memory is from way back in 2000 or 2001 during AH1, back before bombers had formations.  I saw a large dar bar moving south off to the east of the center island on NDISLES.  I figured it was a bomber raid and for some reason I decided to take a C.202.  I took off from the base on the SE side of the center island and climbed out to intercept.  As gained on the contact, I could see it was a single B-17 being escorted by a P-51 and two F4Us.  I know I have no real shot at the bomber, but I figure I can play with the escorts a bit.  I bait the escorts by looking like a moron, free kill by climbing my C.202 slowly up the B-17's six.  All three take the bait and dive down on me, as soon as they are committed I break turn and engage.  First to draw my fire is the P-51, which I shoot up a bit, get a leak on something, radiator I think, and decided I've been on that target a bit long for my health.  I break turn away from the '51 just as a bunch of .50 tracers go screaming through where I was.  The P-51 puts his nose down and the last I see of him is a dot trailing something.  As I tangle with the F4Us we lose altitude, but at about 5,000ft I remove something vital from one of them and he loses control and goes in.  The other one lasts until we are in a flat turn, on the deck, with speeds of about 150mph and be gaining position (F4Us didn't have wonder flaps back then), so he decides to make a run for it. F4Us don't accelerate very well and I gun him down, relatively slowly, as he tries to escape.

Landed two kills.  Stripped all escort from the B-17.  Not bad for something armed with two 12.7mm and two 7.7mm guns.

OK.
One more night to go to complete the week. Tonight was a mixed bag. Got ganged alot. And killed some. At one point I had K/d at about .78 and had it drop to .6 something.
By the end of the night and thanks to a kill on Vipers F4 and someone elses La7 I managed to get it back up to .7 even.
Had one opponent really surprise and disappoint me. I wont mention who but I think he knows why. No biggie
By tomorrow all will be forgotten with my first flight.

Any event here is where I stand with 1 day to go. Barring an incredible run I dont think a K/d of 1 will be acheived. but its fun trying.
To be clear and one of the reasons why I wont achieve 1 is because of the fights I've been looking for. Fairly balanced with only a slight advantage on either side.
I havent been going for areas where we have pretty much a clear superiority. or with only a few planes in the area unless there was nothing else around Though Im sure they ended up being that at one point or another. On the other hand. the tide has also turned against us at times. So it all balances out.

so here it is. With 1 more night to go
My tally as of this moment

Good job, except for your hit %.  Why on earth is it so low?  You should not be firing 202 guns often >200yds and never >300yds.  (You will not record any damage)  Most shots should be taken in the 100-175yd range, so how can you have a 5% hit?  This is not me being a pompous aiming nazi either, it has nothing to do with aim.  If you take appropriate ranged shots, you should be able to get 10% easy, even if you have the shakes.

Would love to shoot closer then that But I gotta shoot where the planes are.
They gotta stop running for help first. LOL

Actually Im kinda semi serious about that. I'll often use long range shots with the bbs in any plane to try to get them to turn. At which point I can get in closer and giver them a full load. So the hit % is probobly a bit misleading. Though I know it could be a lot better even with out that

Also. I'll often suffer from poor aiming overall. Its often the one thing that keeps me from killing the top sticks as well as some of the noobs.
And sometimes I'll hit everything I aim at regardless of range or position. Other times I'll be missing at near point blank range where I dont know how the hell I could have missed because I shouldnt have missed the shot even if I wanted to miss.

Dont think your being pompous at all.
Your aiming skills are well known to me.To me when you talk gunnery. Its like E.F. Hutton. I wish I could hit with the same consistency as you do. And you do so at some pretty amazing angles.(tough shots)
I just havent found that key yet.

In this plane as well as 190's, 109's, P51's and 110's I can regularly score hits up to 400 out.
In fact most of my kills I get are between 300-400. Beyond that I really start missing. And thats where I'll either go for the lucky shot or use the BBs as mentioned above.
