200 was chosen to accommodate those that didnt want to listen to the banters. Many of which we see complained about now.

Exactly right ... but "banters" in and of itself does not include "political or religious" discussion ... HTC has, on many occasions stated so ... everything else is pretty much acceptable with the exception of vulgar language.

You really are arguing for the sake of argument ... your generalization of why 200 was created proves it.

We should have a sissy momma's boy channel and then a male channel.

+1!

Unfortunately, the afore-mentioned momma's boys wouldn't be able to resist the male channel....would HAVE to look at and then READ it, would of course be rightly offended, and be obliged to .report it ad infinitum (of course, AFTER making bbs threads about how horrible it is :cry)

Interestingly, "snitches" being turned on is probably the biggest problem with cleaning up our inner cities, because when something happens, magically nobody saw anything.  They won't "snitch" to the police because it ain't "manly".

No doubt.

My father was a West Point graduate ... class of '53 ... USMA motto ... Country - Honor - Duty. No one knows better than what those mean than the son of cadet and the cadets themselves.

If my father saw someone cheating on a test at West Point, if he did not turn that cadet in, and they found out that he knew and didn't report it ... he would suffer the same consequences at the cheater ... expulsion.

There is no honor in cheating and it was his, and every cadets duty to maintain the integrity of the standard and rules of the USMA. With out that, it would all fall to pieces.

If my father saw something go down that was wrong ... he would be the first to step up and say something ... and I would dare someone to call him a "snitch".

From the 'Mods' thread.

Here is a really simple way to avoid any confrontation with a moderator.

Ask yourself one question before you say or type something.

"What does this have to do with the game?"

If the answer is "Nothing!", then do not say/type it.  Ta-da!

The community has the .report mechanism at its disposal.  Use it.  The moderators cannot be on 24 hours a day.  They also like to play the game and should be allowed to do so.

Political discussions are reason for moderator action or .reports.

Still nothing that says there is a rule that says no political discussions.

Except for the part where Skuzzy says that political discussions are reason for moderator action and the .report.

Meaning to me that political discussions are against the rules otherwise they would not be reasons for moderator action or reporting.

the owner of the house...or in this case, a designated person responsible for the house has stated it is not to be. that makes it a rule. just as if you walk in your friends house, and he tells you not to piss on the floor.......i'd hope you won't......

It also says that if its not related to AH you shouldn't talk about it. Does that mean asking a friend how his day was against the rules too?

I would interpret it that way.

Those discussions do take place and many times by me and if I get muted it for it then so be it.

My point was that it was stated that political discussions were addressed in the 'Mods' thread and even specifically.

The reason Dred's solution wouldn't work is that if all the people who didn't want a recap of the Rush Limbaugh/Keith Olbermann talking points of the day switched to Channel 1, so would the people who do want a recap of said talking points.  The people spewing talking points, and the AH chat buffer's nature prevents anything deeper than bumper sticker/talking point discussion anyways, would move to channel 1 as well.  In the vast majority of cases they wouldn't move to be malicious, but rather to be where the crowd is, where their buddies are and where they can shoot the breeze about the game.  The fact that sometimes they go overboard and start their talking point spewing is a separate issue.  They want to participate in the community as well.  In addition, chatting your talking points into a channel with only a few guys in it who already agree with you 90+% of the time isn't very satisfying I wouldn't think.

There are plenty of other places on the internet to do politics, and do them better.
