Well, congratulations for those who wanted that thing... now HT.. we can have another non-US heavy bombers? with this we have 4 US heavy bombers, what about now the only ones from URSS, Italy and germany?

Actually, only 3.  B-24, B-17 and the upcoming B-29.  The B-26 and B-25 were considered medium bombers.

I'd also like to point out that we produced 15,000 B-24s, 12,000 odd 17s and near 4000 B-29's. all during the war. I like some of the other heavies as well as the other guys, especially the HE177. Based on production there are more US bombers because there were more US bombers. No flame intended, this just seems to make sense to me is all.

Only about 1500 B-29s were made during the war, not counting those kept state-side for training and preparation/testing/ramp-up.

About another 1000 or so were made after the war. The B-29 was actually rather short-lived, compared to the planes it replaced.

As for Vadjan-Sama, the US and the RAF were really the only 2 countries to truly utilize the heavy bomber. Asking for a German or Italian or Russian bomber "to compete" is a false argument -- because they did not operate this way, nor could they have operated this way. They relied on medium and light and dive bombers the entire war... The western powers were rather well off with regards to supplies and with regards to endless replenishment despite massive loss of airframes and aircrew. No other country really could have done that, save maybe the Soviet Union, and they realized they just didn't need to.

I must be thinking of total production, but I think the mostly canceled the orders when the war ended. I agree with your assessment though and find it amusing when people want other heavies, but there really were not many.

We have two (B-17G, B-24J), soon to be three (B-29A), American heavies and one (Lancaster Mk III) British heavy.  The only other heavies that really played a role in the war were the Halifax, very, very similar in capability to the Lancaster, and the Sterling, pretty much a dog and hideous to boot.

By "The only other heavies that really played a role in the war were...", don't
you mean 'The only other Allied heavies...'?

No axis heavies play a role in the war. That's the point. A few dabbled in it. They did not put forth fleets of thousands (or even hundreds) and were rare. They were not used the same way the US used them, nor the RAF used them.

The axis did not use heavy bombers like the allies did. There is no comparison. They had different jobs, and they got them all done with smaller bombers. Medium bombers were the stock and trade of axis forces, and as such they do not NEED heavy bombers in-game, because there is no need to FILL.

About another 1000 or so were made after the war. The B-29 was actually rather short-lived, compared to the planes it replaced.

B-29
2,513 produced (total)
1,620 produced by Boeing (Wichita plant)
536 produced by Martin (Omaha plant)
357 produced by Bell (Marietta plant)

B-29A
1,119 produced (total) by Boeing (Renton plant)

B-29B
311 produced (total) by Bell (Marietta plant)

3,943 B-29s (B-29s, B-29A, B-29B) were built during World War II.

The B-29C production was cancelled due to the war's end, none were built.

200 B-29Ds were ordered a month before the war ended in the Pacific but reduced to only 50 after VJ-Day.  The B-29D was redesignated as the B-50 as a ruse to keep production going by claiming the engine upgrades to the B-29D was so much that it ended up being an entirely new plane.

The B-50 (B-29D) stayed in USAF service until 1953 in the bomber role (phased out when the B-48 was introduced) while still serving in the USAF up to 1967 in the tanker and weather recce role.

As you can see, the B-29 enjoyed quite a long life in the USAF and more than 1,500 B-29s of all types built during the war.

I lived about 10 miles from that plant.  They are restoring one of them right now.

Just what we need. The Allied bomber list is WAY too short and it is good to see we are finally beefing it up. Everyone should agree that a B-29 will be just the thing to cure everyone's crying. Not to mention what it will do for events! I can't wait to kill some B-29's with Ki 61s at 40k :aok

Definitely the right move guys  :salute

LOL, well it was inevitable for the B-29 showing up on AH.  Soon, we will get the He-111, Me 410, Kis and A-26.

Right now, 90% of the action in the main arenas is sub-10k.    The B-29 may cause a more realistic approach to defense, make the game more realistic at least in terms of tactics.   I for one am really looking forward to the plane.  Well-done HTC...
