Have not seen it.
Seem like the movie was created during the cold war, I can see why they would show it in a movie of that time. I don't think there is a need for such ideas any more, the war is over.

suppose i should go tell the squid and jarhead pilots they were doing it wrong then...they were flying with wingmen, not historically accurate...  :lol

It still operates as wingmen. A wingman pair is the fundemental building block, then the four ship, then the flight...
