i'm not giving you the research you should have already done...look up it's history and where/when it had the highest success rate.

Gents,

Just a quick correction that picture is not a Hetzer but a JagPzKw IV (75mm/L70) which had the same gun as the Panther.  It was a Jagpanzer that was the workhorse during the Battle of the Bulge.

thats not a StuG tho. its a hetzer and that is a completely different subject that i dont wanna get into right now.

Same gun as the current Panzer Mk IV.

In AH, a tank with no turret would be VERY difficult to man because there is no independent movement of the tracks.  The tanks in AH drive like a 4 wheeled vehicle.

The Sturmgeschütz III, or StuG III for short, was an assault gun used by the Wehrmacht "German Army" during WWII. Built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank was, it was initially designed for infantry support. However, the StuG III, with it's relatively low silhouette and eventually a more powerful main gun, it became a formidable tank destroyer. Unlike the M4 Sherman tank, the Panzer IV, and other comtempory tanks, tank destroyers did not have turrets that could be rotated. This meant that the Stug III had to face it's target directly and if the gun could not be aimed directly at the target, than the entire vehicle had to rotate. However, when properly deployed, the Stug III was one of the best antitank weapons in the German arsenal. In addition, the Stug III was considerable cheaper and easier to produce, making the vehicle even more appealing to the German High Command. The Stug II was typically armed with a 75 mm main gun and (at least in the early years of the war) not armed with any machineguns.

Gents,

This is s discussion that has been held over several years.  I agree that Tank Destroyers are very interesting, but in Smokinloon's post hit the heart of the matter:

Same gun as the current Panzer Mk IV.

In AH, a tank with no turret would be VERY difficult to man because there is no independent movement of the tracks.  The tanks in AH drive like a 4 wheeled vehicle.

A turretless vehicle will be next to imposable to use in AH.

I have for a long time been calling for the Puma to be added to the game.  What is there not to like about a 8 wheeled armored car that packs a 50mm turreted anti-tank gun.  Speed and Punch is the true nature of fun in AH.

"They're shooting at everyone," Clevinger answered. "They're trying to kill everyone."
"And what difference does that make?"

only the later models had that gun...that thing had some very thin armor on it...and there were a bunch of different models from a to h i believe...

except for special events and the midwar arena...i'd rather see one of these:
(Image removed from quote.)

thicker armor and the same 75mm used in the panther...

That is actually a jadgpanzer 4 so you are both wrong.

if HTC would take the time to model tracks so they can move independantly without having to actually pop into the drivers seat it would be an easy accomplishment when so many other games ive played have it, ill use WoT for an example. the tracks move independantly with the StuG and the hetzer and any other stationary gun platform. it wouldnt be hard to model it because all you have to do is turn the turret and the tank just follows it.

You do know that you can map your controllers so that you can drive the tank while in the turret don't you? I have my rudder pedals mapped to steer from the turret while the joystick rotates the turret itself. Granted I can't change gears or stop the tank without being in the driver's seat, but I can still control direction.
