Why i think this game is bad

Pdog,

IT is a bit risky to compare a Cesna with any of the WWII fighters. The Cesna was designed and built to be a very stable aircraft, while fighters are designed to be unstable so they can do the amazing things they do, secondly it would be near impossible to sell a game that has a full motion base so it can come as close as possible to the real thing, we can't use the seat of our pants for that extra input on the state of our aircraft.

I know for fact our squad has had well over a dozen B-17's up at one time on missions that our squadies have mapped out with fighter escorts. Can you expect to see wave after wave of bombers in bound to Regensberg here, not likely, can you expect to have fun with whats available? Thats up to each player, seems you aren't happy with this, so be it, but most of us that have hung on and spent the time to try a learn the game are having plenty of fun.

As for cost, well a buck a day for entertainment is well ahead of most other things you can get involved with. Can we expect HTC to hire six folks, rent a building, buy or lease servers, routers and a host computer for much less? Not to mention the time logged in the continueous software updates and research they have done and then expect them to work for peanuts.

Their job is one that is knowledge base driven, and given the small staff they have they have done an outstanding job.

We would all love to go to Florida and fly MadMax or Crazy Horse and come back from a position of authority ( 1 Flight ) and tell HTC how screwed up the P-51 is, just think of all the 109's and 190's you could fly against and then drop that data off at grapevine Texas and get them on the right track. So with that understanding you can  play Aces HIgh as it is and learn how to fly this P-51 ( or any other plane in the set ) against the 109 / 190 thats here or hope for time transport in the next week or two and then come back and report to all of us what you have learned, but be forwarned there your first death is permanent wouldn't we all just love to have HTC model that little piece of reality. Just think what fun that would be every on-line sim would be outta business well within a month of start up!

ohhh, hope they don't publish that abomination!!!.

Only thing I agree with is the N1k2-J thingie.  Could'nt accelerate the way it does in AH but thats to be fixed anyway.

Am currently undergoing training for my commercial pilots licence in Australia and feel that while you don't get a RL feeling of flight, AH imo comes closest of all the many flight sims i've tried.  In fact, kinda ruined my boxed flight sims now, can't play them cause they make me laugh.

And if you want more enemies, come join the rooks, can't take off these days without 20 bloody ac swooping down n doing nasty things to ya   :D

BTW I wrote a book too

Nikki's in the Sunn
-------------------

The big plane went broom broom and pow pow.  I turned my killa 202 towards it.  My 202 went broooommmmmmmm.  Then I saw it, it was a N1k2-j.  Its gunns went faloop faloop, I fired my guns, they went pfffft, pffftt, the other plane dodged them. I dived, he dived, I dived again.  His guns went faloop, faloop. My plane exploded in a ball of flames.  I bailed out and he gave me a jaunty wave. I blew him a big sloppy kiss.  He blew one back.

The End.

Pdog, negative on the sound in gun camera footage shown on TV and videotapes.  The sounds you hear were dubbed in later.

The default sounds are as lame as you say though.  Fortunately there are some great player-created soundpacks.  This one is great:  http://www.worldaccessnet.com/~delta6/ultimate.htm

If you want more sounds, go to the following forum and ask around:  http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=66

ROFLMAO Zygote...

Now THAT was an entertaining story.
as opposed to that boring-ass long-winded
dribble, posted earlier  :)

As for a reply to Pdog.. why waste the time.
He obviously doesn't get it.

I spoke to my fellow employee that has been an A&P since 1953, and that worked on Corsairs (F4U-5's and F4U-7's) just before the jet age hit. He stated that the Corsiars he worked on had gun camera's only, but that when the brass ordered it they had a way to mount up to six camera's per aircraft and that sound was rigged via the gear bay. Unfortunately, he also said that there was never a cannon version of the Corsair!  :D Obviously, he came along too late.

The man that I know of that worked on 38's is still working on 38's. I am waiting for our power plant expert to come down again when I will ask him to get in touch with this other man. He is working on the restorations team on the recovered 38's from Greenland, so if anyone knows where that is being done (NW Tennessee I believe) you can ask him yourself.

We have a man that was ground crew (crew chief) on B-17's in WWII, here locally. He told me that recorders in those days were too big to mount in smaller fighters, but that the bombers had them during PR missions (some of which did not come home).

Then, I was talking to another A&P in Miami that remembers his father showing him an audio recorder that had been mounted in a P-47. It had been designed be a British soldier, initially. It was considered too dangerous to be used in fighters early on, but saw frequent service in the later part of the war. It did not use tape, but recorded on a thin piece of wire. The implications are obvious there.

Still, whether they did or didn't doesn't matter concerning AH. P-51's never fought P-51's, but we do here because this is a game concerning ACM and not the recreation of WWII. There are, however, many gun camera segments out there with sound included. The reason I am convinced that this did happen is the use of distance fading with the audio track. Sure, Hollywood had the ability to do that, but why bother when the segment would (upon release) be heavily overwhelmed with narration?

I am going now, to set up a new website where I will post (at the risk of getting hit with a law suit) a short segment of the last minutes in a 109's life. The pilot, upon bailing, is ripped apart by gunfire from the trailing fighter. You can hear the gunfire, the *snap* of the wing, and the engine exploding as the block is ripped open.
If you look closely you can also make out the pilot losing his arm, leg, and then head in the gunstream (final frame). Why would anyone edit such a gruesome scene for sound?

I should have this uploaded by tonight.

I am definately interested in that movie clip. More for the effect of the rounds on the plane and to actually hear these sounds.

I do not want to see the pilot get chewed up. No matter whether Axis or Allied it's not a sight I'm interested in seeing.

Hangtime described it best above   :)
