Why would anyone think more ways to communicate with friends is bad?  However just like anything else, some people go overboard. There are idiots who make it there goal to collect as many friends as possible. Then there are others who only friend people they actually know.  So all you people running your pie holes about what Facebook is used for without trying it..... shaddapp.

Ahh use a private chat then if you don't want to be in the public. How about trying facebook to chat about... facebook.

I use email and phone calls for the same thing. Maybe even a visit or two.

Back when I was a younger lad, if I wanted to talk to someone, it was in town at the ol' farmer's market, the barber shop, or the saloon!  Sometimes the occasional letter by Pony express.  All these hipsters were starting to use telegraphs, Telegraphs! **Slaps knee in laughter, then almost coughs up a lung** I almost fall out of my rockin' chair thinkin about the uselessness of sending information in that way.  All those youngsters with their telegraphs ruinin this country I tell ya.  If you want to talk to someone, it should be in person, the trip by horseback is a measure of your commitment my old papa used to say.  Email and phone?  That's straight out of a science fiction novel! **Decrepit cough**

We get it shuff... you don't like facebook. However, posting ignorance is in no way going to sway responsible users to not use it. So balls in your court continue your ignorance if you want.

My wife will post something about our kids on Facebook (like a couple of photos from an air show we went to last weekend) for her family to enjoy.  It beats e-mailing all of them about it, or calling them all to let them know we went to an air show, or dropping in on her sister in Maine or her other sister in Indiana to tell them about the air show.  Sometimes a couple of photos and a quick comment are all that loved ones need to connect and feel like they're in the loop about what's going on with our family.  It's insane to think that every little event deserves a phone call, but it's perfectly reasonable, IMO, to put that stuff out there for family to enjoy at their own leisure.

It's really as simple as that, despite the over-the-top stuff that folks try to interject in here.  Facebook operates within a greater social context, not outside it.

I got it!   Post "said pictures" on your Wall on FB and the "logistical nightmare" is solved!    Damn it, you already did that.

No no no, the obvious thing to do is the print the pictures out for everyone who wants to see them, then mail each a set and ask them to mail back their pictures!
