The D3A mission also had 109 escort. It was all in good fun to try to spark up something on the map. They didn't take bombs, or even try to hit the base, it was all about giving the red guys something to shoot at. And guess what? It worked! It sparked up a good fight until the destroyer of all things good in AH named AUTO decided to kick us out. It was fun while it lasted.

The mission had no point other than to be fun, it had a few slots for 109s and about 20 guys flew the d3a1.  Nobody dropped any hangers, nobody went over the airfield or town.  It was just to go pick a fight.  Any of the defenders could have used their own field for cover and to be honest, that spitfire as well as the handfull of other defenders should have used the boom&zoom technique.

The one advantage that mission had was the fact that nobody is used to fighting against the D3A1 and those who fought against ours treated it like any other plane.  They mostly upped turn fighters and tried to turn with a plane that only had one thing going for it.  And that one thing is the ability to out turn anything.
The lesson to be learned here is that even a Brewster can boom&zoom when fighting against the D3A1.
I feel compelled to mention that the reason no one came up to fight was becasue you had two other hordes of about 20 guys striking two other bases at the same time. They more or less rightly considered it a distraction once it became clear you weren't attacking the town, so really the only guys that came up were people without any good sense or experience I didn't stick around in the flak once it was clear you weren't after the town that's for sure. "Starting fights" doesn't work if you've also got hordes of guys rolling other bases like two sectors away.

Well put, Looks like you gents had a blast....wtg  :aok

A large  bunch of late war monsters.....just a mindless hoard imho

A large bunch of D3As.......... A group of ppl just trying to have some (different) off the cuff fun,in some less flown, handicapped rides.

Would have loved to defended against this one  :aok

The first Candy mountain mission way back when was a Val fighter sweep.  We by accident intercepted an inbound Lancaster raid.  Flying underneath them and shooting them down with the rear gun was good fun :)  We stopped it too!  Was worth it for all the laughing going on while it happened.

im  sorry you see things differently. We fly together as a group because thats the way we see that a squad is suppose to function, as a group, not as 20 1v1 fights. If people dont want to get killed by hordes then dont up from the field. But then everyone is going to say that we are attacking an undefended base. So im not really sure how a squad is suppose to function as a group if we go to a base that is defended, everyone sees that as hording, but when we go to an undefended base that is base stealing and no fun for anyone. So what else is there to do?

I am going to give you an honest answer to your questions.  No flaming here.  The Pigs have quite a few pilots online at times, so I point them at an equal sized red dar.  I do not go to a field and hope someone will up with 16 Pigs in the air above it.  Try it sometime.  Pick the biggest red dar you can find, get the whole squad together, and fly right into it.  You will have fun.  I promise. :aok

see i wouldnt have a problem with that, but the thing is we have people that can manage a fighter and then we have people that are lucky to get off a carrier. So say we had 20 guys do what your saying, about only 10 would last atleast 3 min.

sorry wasn't us. the only mission we had was the d3a's at the time. so maybe it was another skill less horde, because there is more than a few with the bish, but the only ones that get labeled with that is us.

I mean, everybody already knew that your group was a hoard
of skilless monkies, but admitting half your squad can't even
get off the carrier?

He isn't kidding, last night a Knit carrier ran into a bishop carrier right before the Vhorde showed up, I fired my first salvo around 16k and the same time a handful of v's were taking off, boom 3 kills - only wish I had a screenshot because the second the round hit, someone turned that CV while another 5-6 were taking off and they splashed into the water. Only one I seen actually made it off the carrier out of the handful before the CV was sunk, I'm sure quite a few of those were ditches and the rest were screaming "Who turned the CV" in high pitched voices.

Same carrier, that 10 minutes ago had over 60 bish swarm an airfield, take it and leave it undefended for our carrier to retake it under 10 minutes.

I actually upped the second I seen that 60 vHorde zerg, by time I got to the field there wasn't a bishop in sight, they took the base and landed already onto the next NOE.
