In most cases players will do anything to get the required 2 kills to get their name in lights. Vulch, bomb gvs, ho, gang, what ever it takes.

Removing the name in lights won't stop that behavior, but it might slow it down there by increase better game play

People give a crap about who lands kills? ZOMG HE LANDED 12 HE MUST BE LEET!! sounds like it only impresses squeakers/pizza faces.

I'm all for having better game play, seriously people are going to crazy on "Score" and how many victories they land.

Hehe... this gave me an idea for another analysis: How many 2,3,4 and so on landing messages do we see in a given time, and what's the approximate % of missions ending with name in lights? :D

Think I will take a look at it this weekend  :rock

I see a chart on the way methinks.

Are any of you even curious why Hitech as a business decision chooses to run kills landed messages? Juggler do you think your request is a sound decision to help Hitech keep this boat afloat during these economic times? We all know you have recently become 1337 and probably letting everyone know you are more than a pretty face with an itchy trigger finger.

If shane is correct and you can turn off your own and others kill messages in your buffer, why bother creating a post to tell everyone else you think they are loosers for generating kill messages by landing after their sorties? Turning off ch200 would remove much of your drama source and context to some of the landed kill messages.

For jugglers sensabilities so we will stop offending him in the MA's.

Can anyone verify that it is possible to turn off the landed kill messages in the text buffer and the proper dot command. If there is not currently this function, I request HTC coad the function as a check box in the clipboard menu options to act as a perma-squelch of all kills landed messages from any source.

Problem solved....... unless the real purpose of this post was for this newly minted 1337 to obliquely tell anyone who dosen't play the game his way that you are a looser while sliding around Rules 4 and 8.

I found the oinky button  :rofl

My requests are just that, requests. Your little piggy started the oblique and sly insults toward me. This was just a thread of an idea, ever have one? I think being it is a public forum I can post what I desire within the rules. Rules 4 and 8 are skirted by many including yourself.
It is admirable for you to come running to semps aid but it is not required. He can speak with me in private as you can.

It is obvious you have been offended in some fashion, which is remarkable for someone who "just now" responded to this thread. There has been no opportunity to offend you yet. Now that you have cast the 1st stone between you and I. I shall back out of my own thread because it is obvious you are having a melt down, have a good day.

shane is correct - you can turn off your own and others kill messages in your buffer, as well as the faux <S> via squelch 6 and 1, respectively.

It won't improve game play.  For example, if people that played AW were to look back without rose tinted glasses will agree that not having your name in lights didn't improve game play.  You still had people running from fights, picking, vulching and every else people complain about today.

Player/community attitude is what needs to be changed to improve game play.

With one being able to squelch anything and anyone one wants, there's no need for any changes.
As AKAK states "not having your name in lights didn't improve game play". We have to make our own experience and the squelch is there to help us.

I see a chart on the way methinks.

And I did it. A quick survey over 2.81 hour real time in offpeak arena:

769 kills were made during that time. That's estimated about 1500 sorties or about 190 played hours total (based on typical average tour sortie lengths and kills/sortie)

92 sorties ended with a displayed victory message. Assuming the numbers above that's only about 6% of all sorties. On average, a player spent about 2 hours for each broadcast landed victories message.
36% of all kills had been honored with a landed victories message.

I will do a longer (~8h survey) on TT, with more players online.

BTW: Usually about 30% of all sorties are being landed in LW arena, and the average K/S is less than 0.5.
