Wrong.
Manslaughter is usually broken into two categories: Voluntary and involuntary.
A man in my town was nearly beaten to death last month. The prosecution is pushing for attempted voluntary manslaughter against the assailants.
melvin, the key word is "attempted"...in a case where an assault was committed and a life was endangered regardless of means, it can be assault with the intent to kill, attempted homicide, voluntary or involuntary manslaughter and another term that escapes me at the moment...
i may say this wrong but, in a manslaughter case it's a matter of a death occurring in the course of a criminal act where there was not necessarily an intent to kill someone.
that girl will probably be charged with a string of charges including assault with a deadly weapon, assault with intent to cause grevious bodily harm and attempted murder...whatever the prosecution can get a solid conviction on or the defense can plea bargain down to.
