Penguin,

Stop trying to think you know something about this, you do not. Sending those troops back to the fight does not equate to a waste. Did you ever think that they would be able to lead and train their troops to be better soldiers and more effective war fighters? They now have experience that they can use to help their fellow soldiers fight smarter and better. Their leadership will help save more friendly troops and cause more enemy casualties by spreading the expertise around.

Yes they were given a very very high award. That does not mean they are now more valuable, they were just recognized for the actions they took on the battlefield. They were already valuable assets to the Corps before the award. Failing to use the combat expertise they have would be a huge loss to their fellow Marines.

Training stateside is one thing but their knowledge can be a big combat multiplier for the unit overseas where it has a bigger impact on the fighting.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I never claimed to know anything about the military- in fact, I have openly admitted my lack of knowledge; you guys jumped on me as if I were pretending to know anything on the subject.  Secondly, my first (and nearly every subsequent) post was a question- I wanted to know what they were going to do with them.  It was not a claim that the military could not send them back.

Furthermore, even though I have stated that my question had been answered, you have continued to lambast me for my lack of knowledge and my non-existent claims of the military would do with these marines.

Forgive these gentlemen for not being as patient as you would like with your denseness and naivety, but don't pretend your questions haven't been loaded with a pretense of knowledge.

Wouldn't people be angry if the Marine Corps sent them back?

Starting a question with "wouldn't" implies [that you believe] an answer in the negative is incorrect.

I knew that already.  I wanted to know what the military was going to do with them, as sending them back to the meat grinder would seem like a waste.

Still you assert an opinion on a subject that you admit to knowing next-to-nothing about, this is extremely annoying. I wouldn't blame anybody for lambasting the crap out of you.

Oh, wow.  I never looked at it that way.  Those questions were more loaded than a tractor trailer.
