For Strip use Mopar is making the Mopar 10.   It is plain white.....no vin number so it can not be used on the street.   You are

delivered a body....without suspension or wheels, ya get a HEMI...one of choice.  Sorta like the days of the lightweight Belvedere

and the Ford Thunderbolt.....Fairlane lightweight.  Those were the days.  The Ford 427 against MOPARS 426.  Ronnie Sox et.al.

And ya....I was there  :aok.  Bruce Larson and his cobra etc.  The Dragon Snake!  Grumpy Jenkins also!

(you young whippersnappers might not recognize the names)  :aok

but in those days, the thunderbolts were rollers. you had to pick them up at the dealer the day they came in(from what i've been told). i think the thunderbolts were the fastest of those types too. the cammer was outlawed from nascar back then...prolly due to chrysler and chevy whining about the arse whooping they were gonna get from that engine.......

and today, you get the cobrajet mustangs. quickest production car there is. not street legal, but still the quickest.  :devil :aok

Quite a few.   I still recall in either 90 or 91, one of the magazines did a head to head on the Mustang GT and the Corvette.    The GT had a faster 0-60 and IIRC a faster 1/4 mile.   Not too shabby.

Truth be told.  I would have no problem owning a Vette.

Oh I believe it. My buddy has a c4 and my 95gt, which has the same 5.0 but is quite a bit heavier than the foxes, used to be pretty much even with him in the 1/4 mile before I put the 4.10 gears in it. Both have stock engines with minor bolt-ons.

He's a bit more aerodynamic, though (just a little :lol), so once you get up past around 90 he's just gone. Not to mention the whole...turning...thing.

But you guys are right, if I could buy any car it would be a Vette. You just can't beat the performance for the price with the Z06 and the ZR1. Though I like Fords, I'm a fan of anything with muscle. And though I wasn't around for the first muscle car wars, it sure is nice to witness this one, that's for sure.

the whole "turning thing" is more the driver than the car, when it comes to street driving. you can ask the mustang driver that tried beating me to an on-ramp last night. he pulled through the toll booth a little after me, almost got by me....but he didn't know his car, thus he was on the brakes way too early. i got the lane we both wanted.  :devil

funny since the original new camaro couldnt out accelerate, outbrake, or outturn the mustang... gotta love what a year or so of upgrading can do eh?

You have that backwards.

Last year mustang could not hold a candle to the camaro..... this year they can. It's small enough that the driver makes all the difference this year.

well, last year wasn't the original camaro. and it couldn't out corner that mustang. it couldn't out brake it.

them being close in handling, is a shot in the arse to the camaro, with it's irs, considering that the mustang has a "great whacking girder" for a rear.  :devil
and of course, don't forget that the stang out turned, out braked, and out accelerated the camaro on the track. for at least 6 road races so far. wonder what the chevy guys are gonna ask the governing body to let them have, so they can compete? the new rear spoiler setup didn't help them much.

it's like i said......the mustang doesn't have to compete with the camaro. the mustang is the original, and everything else is.....well........less.  :devil

i'm wondering how long Camaro is going to hold onto the 69 retro look, there beginning to become bellybutton cars.

on the exterior, it's a good looking car, 'cept for those corvette lookin tail lights. i'd have liked to see something more period looking back there on em....doesn't matter though. one never sees the back end of a slower car.  :devil

GM is retooling the Camaro to use the new small Cadillac platform.  It is supposed to be coming in 2012.  It will be about the size of the original Camaro.  Should shave a lot of weight off.
