The event is certainly, and obviously NOT about winning to me.  I have no expectations except that I will have a fight.  I have no chance of winning, I, and I believe many like me just want to play.  So far I have only played this event twice, both fights were awesome and I lost.  They probably were not even that awesome to my foes, as they are very good sticks.  But maybe I provided at least a giggle for them during the engagement.

How many guys ya think are like me, just here searching for fun.  Leave us something to look forward to, should we ever attain a skill level that might allow us to win.

I agree that something stinks Grizz.  I think I participated in two or three of these and have not been in KOTH more than a couple of times in the last year and a half.  Then again, I have not been on line in the past year an a half that much either.  You see, some of us got bored after attending KOTH every single time or bored of the game in general after 10 years.  Then, some of us also have other lives other than AH that may occupy our time like, ohhh I don;t know, kids that have sports to go to, trying to start a business, silly things like that.  So, it maybe that it is out of respect to the event and other people that we don;t sign up since we know we may not be able to attend.  So, you tell me what stinks because I am confused.

You took that quite personally, I'll have to go back to reread my post and see where I made reference or inference to Dedalos.  :headscratch:

You see, some of us got bored after attending KOTH every single time or bored of the game in general after 10 years.

I'm down to only a few a year myself.  Some "fighters" in this game never attend though, not even once a year on a night they happen to be taking a Saturday night off from starting their business.

What stinks is the hypocrisy that this place reeks with.

Aces High used to cost around $30 a month didn't it?

yep

I thought so.  I guess it went down to $15 a month when the good ole days were officially over and the game just wasn’t as good as it used to be.  That was nice of HTC to recognize that fact and give everyone a price break...

We had lots of formal and informal tournaments back in the early days of Aces High.  I met NathBDP via a H2H dueling tournament circa 2000 or so.

I don't really recall anything approaching the ridiculous levels of whining and rule mongering.  People seem so desperate to establish a legacy or make a name for themselves now that they refuse to accept that you can't and won't win every time.  I guess it's better to default, make excuses, or not participate at all than to expose oneself to risk.

The lack of respect I see in these threads is ridiculous.  Nath and I beat BigMax and Lizard3 in a loose deuce competition years ago, and my competitive side was so over the top that... I met BigMax for lunch when I was in Mississippi a couple of years later, and we had a good laugh about it.  Crazy, right?

Some "fighters" in this game never attend though

To our defense, we did join 'fight' club until it was taken over by AH 'play my way or highway' lobbyists and 'look, I'm member of elite club' peeps.

Way back, we did participate in KOTH (when people still looked for fights) and dueling ladders, DA was always full with right kind of sticks and we always had plenty of fun fights.

As for today, we are just old, unreliable and not competitive enough. We still fight in less formal venues though  :old:

Signing up for a dueling bracket or KoTH to find a fight is kind of like making a formal appointment with the wife to have sex.  Sure, the end result can be fun, but it is just not the same as a bit of spontaneity.

Well then, why wait for a bracket event or a KOTH event to have a fight?  As I said, the DA and to some extend the AvA was full of people just fighting for fun.  Why wait for an event when those services are available 24/7?

Dedalos pretty much ruined DA.

I'd pay $30 for that.
