Happy Birthday USA
« on: July 02, 2011, 09:26:35 PM »
We celebrate the birth of a nation, founded not by a singular person but a majority of peoples governed by those that they choose.

Please be safe this weekend, don't drive drunk, and blow stuff up as safely as possible. Just be safe when remembering what this holiday truly means.
<S>

This one is always nice this time of year.

After reading up on the revolution, I've come to the conclusion that timing was everything.  Britain had just finished a war with France, and was ostensibly war-weary.  Britain's rivals were all too eager to send aid, and in the case of France, troops.  The colonists were irritated by their lack of input into the government and additional taxation.  The time was ripe for revolution.  That isn't to say that it was simple by any means, organizing a well-funded, supplied and armed milita in the face of martial law was no easy feat.

The revolution is as fortuitous as it is fascinating.  The most crucial part, in my opinion, was when George Washington refused the position of absolute military dictator.

Oh say can you see,
By the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed,
At the twilight's last gleaming,
And the rocket's red glare,
The bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night,
That our flag was still there.
Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free,
And the home of the brave?

Dang I'm proud to be an American <S>

macro macro macro.

College will do you well, I highly suggest a 300 level or highler course in the American Revolution.  You will learn far more than you can currently comprehend.   ;)

I just read on the news website that you can't buy fireworks in another state, then bring it back to Georgia (mortars and bottle rockets)  :furious To many retards thing its a good idea to shove a rocket up their arse and got them illegalized. which sucks, I had to remove all the bottle rockets explosives and find another use for them, however my family will be setting off a free mortar we got at Phantom. (Article also said most cops will look the other way because they don't want to ruin a holiday). Are fireworks illegal in any of your states?

They are no longer illegal in Kentucky, but they cannot be set off (mortars or finales) within 200 ft of a building of business or residence.

Illegal here in hawaii (And unfortunately I went home for the summer...) but the army puts on a pretty cool display at Schofield Barracks I'll be going to after ignoring a few trespassing signs to go on the most amazing hike in the state...
