I can put a C5 Z06 in the garage for the low low 20's.  Doesn't mean it's what I want

My coworker races his 2004 (manual transmission) runs 10s and uses it for a daily driver.  With the clutch and suspension changes it's hardly fun to drive in Philadelphia traffic but he does it.
I think I mentioned it earlier on but what's killing me is the 2008 Shelby GT500 that's just sitting about a mile and a half away.  In all seriousness had it not been for the new engines and the value for money with what you get
today I wouldn't be buying a new car.  I can actually justify on paper the difference between a used 2008 GT with it's lower purchase price with its higher interest rate and higher fuel consumption versus a new sixer with it's bargain basement financing all the way out to 5 years and great fuel economy.  I make up the difference and start making money on the deal in 33,000 miles.  Or for how much I'll be driving it, less than 3 years.  For the modest premium I'm also not buying a used sports car, it comes with a full warranty and best of all it's mine because I specified what I wanted out of it.  I also keep my monthly payments low enough where I can still afford to fund my retirement, other toys and house down payment fund.  I do well at keeping my hind end out of debt which is one thing my credit rating hasn't agreed with so the fact I'm buying something I can afford and pay it off will pay dividends at house buying time in about 3 years which is when this car may well end up on the selling block.
That said, if you would have asked me in February if I would be buying a new car within the next 5 years (or ever, really) I probably would have said no.  My preowned cars have treated me well from my little 94 Grand Am I had at 16, the cheapie Taurus fleet vehicle I replaced it with (steal of the century $4000, 50,000 miles, 2002 Taurus in 2004 thanks to a fleet sale) and the 2000 Silverado I bought from my father when we struck a deal when my brother needed a new car.  The 2005 Silverado I have now which replaced the 2000 I crashed this past Christmas.  After boring preowned cars and trucks to my name for the last 12 years I'm ready for something just a little more fun.  Just a little...

As I order gears, tuner, intake, exhaust...
Oh boy.

 p.s.
Nice car
