I heard that too.  I don't test, I just smash them with a bat.
I have a size limit, if the spider is to large I run away screaming.  :cry

I was at my mom's this past June.  We had a big family reunion with over a 100 people.  Me and a few of my cousins slept on the garage floor (lots of blow up mattress).  I was almost a sleep and I hear one of my cousins yell "scorpion!".  I just picked up one of my sandles, rolled over, looked in of there shocked to see a scorpion eyes, and nailed the scorpion flat.  Then they complained about scorpion guts in there face.  It was about 2 feet from my head.

have never liked to kill spiders and still don't. It looks like a Hobo spider to me. As a kid in Arizona we used to like to watch Wolf and Tarantula spiders fight :)

I had the unfortunate experience of getting bit by a cousin of the Brown recluse called the Baja recluse. . I was crawling under a deck in some red apple <ground cover> fixing an old Jacuzzi. I never felt a thing. A couple days later I had an itch on my leg. So I looked at it and it looked like a small pimple.. so I tried to pop it.. of course.
About 3 weeks later and the size of brussel sprout I decided ..okay its time :). So off to the Doc :uhoh. He said "you have a spider bite, a good one". I asked him if it was a Black Widow <we have lots of those> he said "no it is a recluse bite". I asked how he knew..and that I thought we didn't have them here. His answer was "Oh we have them just not the Brown variety. We have the Baja recluse. I can tell by the way its eating your leg. You should have come in sooner"  :huh

Its been about six years now and every once in a while I still get the tingling sensation at the spot of the bite and  I have about a 3 inch circular scar on my leg.

We have some good size tarantulas down here where I live, and I like having them around.

The little spiders are the ones that bug me, I hopped in the shower the other day and there was a spider in there waiting for me. I think I invented a couple new bad words.

When I was living in Southern Cali, I had a minor Black Widow infestation in my garage.  When ever I'd see a fair sized moth or other such critter, the widows in the garage would get a free meal.  I did get bitten a couple of times by them, and I was always surprised how minor the bite/pain was.  It was really no more painful than a bee sting, and cleared up in a few days.

The creepiest thing they ever did was hide in the shower, usually in an upper corner.  Talk about a quick way to wake up, coffee has nothing on them.

We have the sun spider pictured on the wiki page here in Colorado. Biggest one was about inch and a half across. Guess Arizona couldn't keep them all there.

Your pic looks more like a Huntsman, but I have seen Wolf spiders in Colorado with those markings.

all spiders are poisonous.

I've heard about poisonous frogs, but not spiders.  :noid
