First off - It's an Acura (Yes I know, same thing - just being picky
)
Well, first, I definitely wasn't trying to be a "hater" I just didn't understand the motivation. I recognized the D16A1 because it's the same engine that was in my Integra race car, but for all I knew that car could have started as a 4-door civic, hard to tell.
Because buying a merc would have actually cost a LOT more and wouldn't have landed that car in Street Customs magazine. It would have just been a yellow Mercedes.
I think you'be be surprised how inexpensive used German stuff is... I paid $5800 for my BMW, and looked at C-class Mercs for about the same amount. But if being "different" was the point......
The goal was to do something no one else had ever done, or even began to think of. Being different was the goal, and it was accomplished on a much larger scale than what I thought was possible.
I can respect that, wanting to be different. I don't get the import/sport compact scene, and sometimes just roll my eyes at the ricer crap that it produces, but that's just my tastes. To each his own, I say. I've always been a racer.... car shows are for old people where I come from.

My race cars, whether they were Hondas, Acuras, or the Corvettes, only needed to look really good from 50 feet away, while they were doing 120 down the front straight.
