What happened to the P38
« on: September 24, 2011, 06:24:31 PM »
http://www.mediafire.com/file/0l4160qzq2vgmmo/what%20happend%20to%20P38.ahf

In this film starting at 15:29 I'm chasing a P38, "19216821" is the game id. :)

at 15:46 I shoot him with lots of rounds landed, hit him good. :aok

at 15:49 he moves at a right angle away from me. :O

No assist, no kill. :huh

How does that happen?

 :headscratch:

Without looking at the film, my guess would be he disco'd or had a severe system overload (maybe from having to load/play the hit sounds from all your rounds hitting him).

I guess you didn't hear about the invisibility cloak that the P38 secretly has.

You were told at the meeting not to speak of this  :furious

I have learned many things from this video...

1) 109F's are tasty
2) P38's are also tasty "except mine... mine no nom nom"
3) Furball is a epic whiner

And just what classifies this as a 'bug'?

Since when can aeroplanes move at right angles after I shoot them and disappear without an assist or kill message?  Seems like a bug to me... but then I don't know if there is some good reason for it.  :headscratch:

There have been more than a few people warping lately and I doubt a bunch of new cable pullers decided to show up so I'll bet there are some packet loss/latency issues that affect people who are connecting through the same routing.

When I'm in a gun, I can see 20 guys over the field and I will see all flying smoothly when suddenly 1 or two of the 20 start warping.

Usually, it's just one plane that flies like this but lately i've seen two or three do it while the rest are smooth.

None of them were being pursued at the times of the warps so no foul play is suggested.

lllllaaaaaaggggg...as in bad connection for someone. what you probably experienced was someone with a connection bad enough that he disco'd right when you were shooting at him. did you happen to look at the roster and see if he was still online after it happened?

If he disappeared and you didn't get the kill then he lost connection with the host and was disconnected.  On a side note...atrocious flying on the part of the P-38 and a reason why new players should stick with the less difficult planes to fly before tackling the more advanced planes.

Easiest plane to take off, land, and lawndart. =)

Probably some random latency issue, as you know it happens with the 30mm a lot where bullets are lost.

The 38 is a challenge because its big, rolls slow, and has relatively low ammo count for a yank plane.  I usually take note of one in a furball.

Some of us actually fight in them :D

As for what happened to the 38. He is not a member of SAPP so he was not in SAPP Mode. He most definitely disco'd.

I rejoice when I find a P38 when I'm in a 110 with less than 75% fuel and slight altitude advantage.
