Loose Deuce is manning a Spit 9 squad during the upcoming scenario: Enemy Coast Ahead.

If you have not flown a scenario you are really missing out. Many of the best sticks spend their time making it count in these scenarios. The RAF will up Spit 9s, and Typhoons with some Mossies and B-25s to keep it interesting. The Iron Cross is headed West with 109s, 190 Butcher Birds, Ju-88s and a few 190-ground attack to keep the RAF honest. In all roughly 200 RAF and Luftwaffe birds will sort out who controls the English Channel during 1943.

If you want to learn how to fly Spit 9s, squad tactics and fly as a unit this may be your best chance. And with Loose Deuce's reputation, one of the best squads in the game, winner of the Squad Dueling League! (I'm trying to be modest but what can we say, it's Joe Namath time I guess.)

We are looking for just a couple flyers committed to learning squad tactics to fly with us. If you can reserve Sat Nov 12 and 19, and Dec 3, 10 and 17 from 3-5 PM Eastern, and want to break some butcher birds...just post a response. We will hold several practice sessions in the DA and you can get to know the rest of the Loose Deucers.

...where none dare fly!

Are you recruiting just for training or the scenario as well?

You know you're an alt monkey when your favorite spit was the pressurised one!  :neener:

And also a two stage merlin-er if I guess correctly.

Why is that?

Cause I've got the Spit Vb squadron in the scenario and they have single stage Merlins :)

Hah!  Single stage Griffon III or IV in the Spit XII and it was a low alt bird!  Not pressurized :)

You mean there is a Spitfire that's actually pressurized?

I never heard that before. Why would you want to pressurize a fighter? Even cargo airplanes that fly around combat don't get pressurized. You realize what is going to happen you a single bullet hits the cockpit?

The VI and VII were high alt fighters and it was a way to protect the pilots from the effects on the body up above 40K.  The other 2 were recce birds and up high safer from interception.  They did some tests in the late 40s and the Spit 19s were able to get in and take the pictures as the early jets couldn't get up to them.

There are a number of surviving Spit 19s still flying.  And the only surviving Spitfire VII EN474 is at the National Air and Space Museum in DC.  If you look at photos of Spits, look for a long intake on the right side of the engine cowl below the exhaust stacks.  That's a sign it's a VI, VII, X or 19

There is no door on the left side of the cockpit like unpressurized Spits.  Different canopy set up too.
