I captured this pics last evening driving north on a dark section of Hwy 287,around 4500 ft elevation, in SE of Colorado. I've seen aurora many times driving through Canada, but always green not red, and never at this latitude (38.5N).

Absolutely stunning! Great pictures as always GHI!

When I was going to Okinawa Japan we had a layover in Anchorage AK and I was able not only to see them but to hear them also.. Really weird though we could hear them clear as day listening to a blank channel on a friends walkman.

I wonder if our magnetic field is getting weaker or the solar bursts are more intense?

Well, that all depends upon the genetics.

I wonder if our magnetic field is getting weaker or the solar bursts are more intense?

We are going through a period of intense solar activity. Nothing too unusual, as it goes in cycles. This was predicted in advance, and is going according to plan. Enjoy the show.

Back in the olden days of analog television everyone would be griping about the interference and twisting the rabbit ears. :old:
