A song that grabbed me
« on: December 05, 2011, 10:14:02 PM »
I listen to all sorts of music, almost any genre, depending on the mood I'm in, or what's going on in my life.  Earlier, I ran across a song on Youtube that I've heard before on the radio, but it didn't "hook" me until tonight.  My close AH friends know that the last couple years have been pretty devastating for me, personal life-wise.  I don't know, something about this song just started making me think of her as I let the memories & tears flow.  I ended up listening to it on repeat quite a few times (missing my AH time).  Just one of those nights I guess.  My ex-wife, mother of my children, is about to remarry and I think I just got caught with my guard down tonight.

Here's the link to the song.  It's Adele's "Someone Like You"

Anyone else man enough to post a song that turns them to mush due to life experiences?

Always reminds me of one of my best friends and the opportunity I let slip away.

My dad worked pretty much up until the day he died. He never got to enjoy retirement. I miss him dearly. He died 5 years ago and I still cry thinking about him and I'm a 29 year old father myself.

I don't know what gets me about this song. It makes me think of how fast the last couple years have gone, and how soon I'll be on my own. I also want this song played at my funeral.

It's hard to explain, and the style I know doesn't go with hardly anyone here on the board,
but here it is anyway.

I don't have any particular songs that turn me to mush regularly.  Of course suffering from depression of varying degrees couple days a week it's one of those that a song can cause that effect.  I can't watch very much of that vid dicho as it pretty wells guts me quickly.

amazing grace always gets me in one way or another
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Something about this season (autumn/fall) seems to draw me towards melancholy music, I just eat it up.

There's a band called Dawes that's sort of been on the up and coming list for a couple years now.  I saw them last year after their first album came out and they put on a hell of a show, some serious performance chops.

This is the last song off the their new/2nd album and it just kills me.

I could probably go on, the 'ol music catalog is full of songs that can just cut through you if you're in the mood. :)
