Semi-hijack:

What ever became of those post-war monsters?

P-51H: Never saw combat. The P-51D did.
F8F: Never saw combat (French in Viet Nam, I know). The F4U's soldiered on.
Yak9UT: North Korea? Or were they Just 9U's?
F7F: Barely....

With the introduction of Jets, the "Uber" prop planes were quickly shoved aside.

Were they too "Uber" but not versatile enough for their own good?

Using a spinny thing out front will only get you going so fast, Using the big hair drier will get you a bit faster, using a big hair drier and highly swept wings will get you a bit more, using a big hair drier that dumps raw fuel into the exhaust along with a highly swept wing will let you win a race with your voice. Such is the story of the death of the monster prop fighter, speed and altitude were the goal in the 50's-70's.

Post war monsters huh??? How about a plane, that would be perfectly valid under the AH2 inclusion rules?

F4U-4B/C

Take the performance of the F4U-4 and give it 20mm cannon. :O
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

There was never a P-38 produced with a Merlin engine and the P-38K was just a test bed aircraft.  Hardly qualifies for a post war variant of the Lightning.

ack-ack

Like this guy knows crap about a P-38......

The P-38K would have been produced except the WMB wouldn't let Lockheed shut down for 2 weeks to reconfigure the production line for its production.

I would limit this to those planes in squadron service, but that had seen little to no combat.

This would include:

P-51H
F7F-1N
F8F-1
Spitfire Mk.22
He 162A-1
Tempest Mk.II
My regards,

Meteor III!
Already in squadron service in 1945, but AFAIK the only victims were V-1's.
Yet there at the front and got mixed in fights as well.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Not that low.  About 415 of them were made.  That is more than the P-47M, F4U-1C, C.205, Ta152, B.239, Ostwind or Whirbelwind.

Planes that would have been awesome had they seen combat would be cool to have, but would also detract from the game.  Back in the 90s I had Aces Over the Pacific and once I bought the expansion pack, I quit flying true ww2 planes.

That being said, yes they would be cool to have but we'd all get sick of them very quickly in the MA.  Maybe if we were to introduce them we'd have to keep them in the DA or only bring them to the MA for special occasions.  I think really though resources would be better spent developing other aspects of the game.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.
