Looks like everyone jumped all over this one. :( The counter is a 262 escort and some 47Ms high over formation. Chasing the 262 too far is not effective as it will just run in circles back to the bombers. Chase them away and then climb back over formation would probably be more effective. Makes them think twice about attacking the bombers anyway.

I think he's probably flying bombers mostly... in that case they are hard to avoid, unless you fly very high.
I tend to disagree. So long as the jet is flying fast, you dive, or pull up, or even rudder and you avoid the jet easily.

262s are dangerous, but not unbeatable.  It does not take too many .50 cal hits from bomber guns to send them home with engines smoking, and if you manage to aim for the cockpit and PW a guy it is priceless.

A lot of guys bring them in to goon hunt down low vs a horde - this works until you show up in something that dives like the devil and is still controllable at 500mph (like a Yak or a C205) - bring it in high over the goon and wait for him to make his run.  Better yet, bring your own 262 and get into some jet vs jet fun.

I was in a P51 B and had a guy in a 262 try to dog fight me.  It was just a matter of avoiding his attacks and dragging him low til his E bled off then putting enough rounds in him to get the kill.  Probably took me a good 15-20 mins but when he tried to turn fight that was all it took.

I killed me a P51B the other day in my 262...  He kept trying to spoil my shots with last second manuvers, so on my final pass I throttled back and let out a notch of flaps anticipating his manuver, then let a 2 second burst of 30mm fly as he fell out of the sky missing his wing and tail.

It's harder to avoid the collision than actually shooting someone down.

nothing to cry about with the 262 - just break and evade.  If you got shot down, its because you had poor SA.

Usually, most of my kills in a 262...the other guy either never saw it, or saw it way too late.

Although I wouldnt say break and evade always works...carefull that 262 could be snail, grizz, moot, drbone...and many others

I lost bet with Rain000 on a football game. The loser had to auger a 262 on purpose.
It was actually a lot of fun, gathered some squaddies and fellow bish to witness the event.
A good time was had by all. BTW the same bet is on again for this year.

500+ into the tower :lol  I was trying to just clip a wing and spiral into the mountainside  :lol

Waldo, you are obviously new at the whole 'auger a 262' thing. That is my standard flight envelope. Right before it we have moments of tunnel vision, followed by compression stall then the biggey...sad, I haven't had quite the audience you have. Maybe mine is just too boring.

Other than the ground, b bomber formation is by far the greatest threat to me in a 262

Yes....MINE!!! Muah, muah ha ha ha ha...I have yet to lose a formation to a 262 and I must say that JUGgler is one who can vouch for that...I have sent every 262 that has Pounced on my Formation home trailing a plume of black smoke and harsh words no doubt said in the cockpit...but <S> for the effort guys!
