How do you like the Z6A?  Do they work as well as the old HPA2?

is there any good 7.1 surround?  or is the 7.1 surround just a gimmick and it really is 5.1?  my headset just broke need to replace it.  i had the g35.

I bought THESE instead.
that aint surround sound its emulated surround.
only way to get true multichannel surround sound is with a HDMI cable. or with SACD cables or any type of component cables. i use SACD for my 5.1 surround i like it because if you have 3 3.5mm-RCA cables you can get SACD (6cables if 5.1) from your computer.
as for headsets get the Triton's they are long lasting and are true SACD 5.1

7.1 surround sound adds two more side speackers so you can hear things from the side
this is 5.1 set up below

(note the dot being where you are and the start being the sub)

You don't need special cables nor 7 speakers to get surround sound.  In theory, "emulated surround" from a pair of headphones should actually be more accurate than a THX approved Bose home theater system with $60-3ft-overpriced Monster cables.  Actually, I'd retract the word "headphones" in the sentence above and replace it with in-ear-monitors.

Now I said in theory...  I don't advocate for any particular brand and have not tried the turltes.  Maybe they are gimmicky, maybe they are God's gift to your ears.  But in any case, once a manufacturer has mastered the time delay and phasing necessary to "emulate" surround sound, that manufacturer can tell you exactly where that plane is or where that gunfire is comming from.

It all has to do with how the brain and ear work.  Some products have nailed it (so i hear), and some haven't.

Back at the ranch, I hear nothing but great things about turtlebeach.  I'm currently using the logitech g35 which I got for $70.  They were a major upgrade from the Radioshack headset I was using before.

What are you smoking?  Separate inputs for each speaker, separate amp for each speaker... how is this emulated?

Actually I have the older HPA2 set, it was easier to find the link for the new style tho  :D

All I know is my set has 5 jacks, an amplifier box, and 4 speakers in each ear piece. With my new SoundBlaster X-FI card they sound incredible!

5 jacks is a little to many if you are useing a headset with 5.1 or 7.1 because each 3.5mm jack can carry 2 channels so 1jack=2   2jacks=4     3jacks=6 channels or 5.1 (the .1 being the sub) my tritons had 4 jacks and where 5.1 surround the 4th jack being the mic in.

5.1 headsets will never be able to get anything like true 5.1 sound. Its impossible to get enough seperation with all speakers that close to the ear. This is a gimmick.

Aces High can give you better than stereo performance with mono sounds and a 5.1 sound card set to 5.1 (very important) on a standard headset. Rather than a 5.1 headset you would be better off spending your money on a studio grade headset or simply a comfortable headset that has a durable cord. The best thing this Z6 thing can do is be a really good stereo headset.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I'm sorry, I do have 5, 3 for the 5.1 surround sound headset, 1 for the mic, and the other for my desktop speakers. I have a SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty card. I also found it very easy to set up. Listening to music is like being there.

Well, my ears must have really fallen for the "gimmick" as it really does sound like a plane creeps up on me from one side and passes, much like I would expect it too. Had a 190 dive on me the other day while I was watching TV on climb out. I could tell which way to break due to how I heard him coming in. Didn't get eyes on him until he was on his climb out after his first pass.

Believe what you will, but what I hear, as stated before, is Incredible!
