I'm not so sure about the napalm in the drop tank idea, because I don't know if that would cause enough damage to actually kill a troop?

However, I could see it being a good idea to model sand on the ground, so that we could fly by and blow sand in the troopers eyes, therefore preventing them from finding the map room.  Then we could rig nets on the back of the jeeps and round all the enemy troops up, and put them to work patching bomb craters on the runway and clearing hornet nests out of the hangers.  I hate the hornets.

thank u mr baily i  have done the research , and i agree it could stop troops entering map room , especialy in town where u have 6 or 7 m3s , and 2 or 3 fighters left , itll be good to hit the fuel tanks to stop the attack as fuel tanks are just a dormant target , the napam could be incorparated within storage in the tanks on bases instead of ord , if u destroy all of fuel tanks u never get neg fuel at base , only 10 per cent  :salute

The idea is weak but...

I have seen film of F4Us(?) dropping explosives that sure seemed to burn like napalm. The video is one of those canned films that seems to show up on every WW2 commercial. Was that not napalm or the early version of it? What is also interesting is one of the F4Us(?) has gear down, obvious airbrakes.

Can anyone else verify this? Am I mistaken about this being some form of napalm? If it was, should at least the F4Us have that as a weapons option? It would be a bit of programming but having the ability to burn the town down with mutiple napalm hits would change the dynamics some.

Does anyone have a definitive answer to this?

In Bud Anderson's biography, he mentions a flight he and Yeager were on and grew bored.  So they dropped their drop tanks on the deck and turned around and strafed the drop tanks to see them blow up.

ack-ack

I am going to ask, what was the result?

Seriously when is Skuzzy simply going to ban the trolling? This is a blatant as possibly can be. I can understand one or two wishful ideas from a credible source, but after seeing the last 50 from david its nothing more then childish trolling the board.

Boo

Would you be talking about them flying level and dropping on the hillside? If so, they are just taking off and immediately right over the front line. However, I cannot recall if that was an F4U, F4F, or F6F.
