Thought into WWI Arena
« on: May 11, 2012, 12:21:50 PM »
All the guys who play the WWI Arena think it needs some more thought into it. It needs more fields, it needs tanks, (There is NOT only 2 tanks, there was accually quite a couple tanks.) It needs new planes, It needs bombers, it needs a Spad, it needs a Newport 17. If you can, and your bored, even make a Zepplin!

Heres some good GV's
England:
Medium Mk A "Whippet"
Rolls Royce Armored Car
Mk V

Germany:
Ernhardt EV/4
A7V (Male, Female and Hermaphrodite.)

"Male" version had two 6-pounders in the front sponsons and machine guns elsewhere, while the "Female" had only machine guns.
"Hermaphrodite" models have a 6-pounder in one sponson and machine guns in the other.

Fun Fact! They also called tanks Landships. Tanks got there name from when the British Goverment told workers they where making water tanks when they where making war tanks. Hence the name. BUT BACK ON SUBJECT.

Go for it Hitech, i just told you basicly everything you need to know... :rock

You don't tank much in the main late war arena do you? Didn't think so - here's a problem - why would people hop in a tank that does 8mph - let alone in the main arena where they won't drive a tank that does 20mph.

WW1 arena could use plenty of upgrades, I would rather HTC focus on the Late War WW2 arena and finish it out before splitting resources into an arena that can't even manage 5 players on a friday night.

/personally I would love an active WW1 arena, not so much tanks as more aircraft - then again its beating a dead horse....

I agree with all of the OP's idea except why not include the most famous WWI tank of all, the Renault FT-17?

It would be cool if all the tanks spawned in their respective trenches in no man's land.  To accomplish this instead of trenches HT could just put in dirt berms to simulate trenches.

Tethered observation ballons could be used to mark enemy tank positions but when shot down would be like losing radar in the MA's (except ground unit dots would go away).

Bombers would still  not be able to destroy fields but be used against enemy ground units.

More stuff for everyone to do couldn't hurt.

Huh?  There's tons of tankers in the MA's.

WW1 is my favorite arena. though its skeleton planeset and gameplay make it very limited.

self-defeatists like this guy only reinforce the perception that it has also become just an advertising platform for a competitor making any updates or time investment in it even more unlikely...

so thanks for that Pfactor. go hang out in the Oclub when you feel an irrisistable urge to promote the competition.

WW1 is the best fun when there are at least 4 people there. Pure, instant fight.  :aok
It could use a couple more planes, but NO tanks plz. Only a vtard can ask for bombers n GVs into a dogfight arena. sigh

As for Fester: possibly PFD never been in that arena. While i can agree with you somewhere, just no need to act like me in my darkest hour.

Can't blame the guy! The other game mentioned here is just superior tbh.

As a long time fan of HT's original DOA (which was totally awsome); the ww1 arena here has nothing to offer compared to the competition and doesn't even compare to what DOA was, which is sad.

That had a fuller planeset, zeppelins, player called artillery strikes. Made for a much more interesting experience.

WW1 air combat is actually more fun then ww2 air combat, so its sad that ROF's multiplayer isn't designed like AH.

PS: On further contemplation, the claim some people make that the ww1 arena was just for testing flight models/etc makes sense now!

I've been in there.

It's quite obvious that WW1 was only intended as the damage model test bed.  Heck, they didn't even put a blip switch on the Dr1 or the Camel.

Sitting around wishing that they would develop the Aces High WW1 game seems silly when there is an option out there that is years of developement time ahead already.  Maybe your time would be better spent sitting outside at night looking for a falling star to wish upon.

I would much rather have Hitech and crew working on the WW2 game, leave WW1 to the other guys.

From what I understand HTC considered it a test or proof of concept arena for specific things, therefore it has had
thought put into it.  It was never meant to be a full resource using era, thus the 4 birds, no bombers or GVs.

Next times your in the LWA look up and count all the LAs, runstangs, run-90s, spixteens....ect. I told them from the beginning they are never going to get these players into a WW1 arena and nothing they could do will change that. Ive found WW1 to be much fun the few times Ive actually seen players in it and joined in.
Yes, your on "Ignore"
