Hitech needs to buy his anonymous moderators mind reading helmits so they can know the heart of each player before casting judgment upon their communication.

That would be a far better option than the current one of failure to post the Rules Of Subscribers as either a MOTD or a required read & check agree or disagree to enter the game.  If that were done all of these threads on chat bans, game bans, and questions of rules and in game behavior on the forums would be a completely moot point would it?

As it stands now, the subscribers are the ones forced to purchase a mind reading helmet because the rules, expectations, and the punishments for those offenses are no where to be seen posted in game as a warning.  No where.  Natta.

Saying that "well, people would say it's not in there" doesn't wash because the forums have 14 Commandments of Rules & Expectations, yet the owner and powers that be are deaf, dumb, and blind on what they expect and demand of subscribers while playing.  And the "everything I needed to know about life I learned in kindergarten" spiel becomes even more worthless when you consider exactly what are you entitled to do, your personal responsibilities as a 5 year old, and if you learned about drugs, sex, booze, cohabitation, gambling, and flying in kindergarten I am sure there are a few law enforcement agencies as well as national and cable news outlets that would love to have a word with you. 


REALITY:  you LEARNED about how to behave and abide by the norms of your school, city, county, state, and nation because of RULE of LAW and posted, administrated, and governed rules, laws, codes, and expectations printed for all to see and abide by as well as the punishments for each infraction.


POST YOUR RULES IN-GAME FOR EVERYONE TO SEE AND ABIDE BY AND THEIR PUNISHMENTS.

Anything less smacks of "we make it up as we go along."

You really need a rule to define your behavior?  Have you noticed how many people don't log in every day saying they weren't chat banned?  Have you seen the arena population on any given day and noticed over the course of a day a few might get muted, and the hundreds the come and go that don't?  Is the RULE the problem or the inability to control someones own action the problem?

Absolutely, do what you all want on your own chat channels.  I'd be willing to bet that if DrBone hosted his own channel and it turned into noise, drivel and disrupted his ability to play the game, he'd kick you off it

I didn't mean just us, but the mods as well. I've been muted for saying something that I could say in church, I've seen people say racist things and keep talking. Reporting is fine, but it's already come across the chat buffer, so whats being done? The children have already seen it. The people have already been enraged by it.. Then you quote Pyro and get muted for 24 hours or so.

BAD AH COMMUNITY! BAD! Quoting an employee... It's much better to talk politics while talking down someones sexual orientation and skin color and throwing in some cursing for a bit of flavor.. at least that's what the mods say! (actions SPEAK louder than words, so let's not argue semantics whom ever might be inclined.)

Using the "Reasonable Person Standard" to overseeing our personal conduct via VOX and text versus a contractual agree or dissagree to posted fixed rules is fairer to both parties in this case. Your participation in this fee based game is "At Will". If you are unhappy with the Moderator's interpretation of the "Reasonable Person Standard" in your case, you are free to contact HTC privately or vote your displeasure with a competitor.

Any posting in this forum is simple petty revenge or acknowledging a weak argument against HTC whether after or before contacting HTC. This is either in the delusion of inciting a mob of the like minded to gain a  response from HTC through public emberassemnt. Or specificly to argue a need to force HTC to change it's Moderation standards in the hopes of gaining a coalition of the like minded in the face of your failed private discorce with HTC.

Human Moderators may actualy not be in numbers large enough to catch everything at all times being that it's probably a voluntary position. And who would want the job knowing how some of you act in the game and this forum. May be why there is the reporting mechanism associated to each player's name in the roster for us to police ourselves.

These posts are not much different from wanting a participation trophy for falling down, skinning your knee, and wailing louder than anyone else on the feild that day.

if 10% of the stuff leaked on Ventrilo came  in game or the BBS most of TopGun would be banned for weeks on end, to the point I have my Ventrilo button FAR away from anything in game.

As you said, there have been several of these threads recently (maybe I should post this response in all of them  )...and they got me thinking.

It's not completely wrong to focus on the cardinal points of 'You broke the rules, you get punished, deal with it - and e-mail HTC if you have a problem instead of making a whine thead', because all that is absolutely correct as far as it goes.

The point that I think is being missed, or simply ignored, by most of the self-righteous brigade, is the terrible inconsistency of the moderation. As detailed in the various threads on the subject, there is tons of personal abuse going on in game over both open and private channels. There is a wealth of inappropriate language that gets around the swear-filter while the intended vulgarity still remains completely clear. You see all kinds of ranting and raving about political crap, racism, and the same few people giving orders and attacking people who don't play their way on country channel over and over again.

Shouldn't the moderators be focusing on cleaning up some of that crap (I appreciate that they can't be there all the time and prevent all of it, no need to rehash that particular weak defense) rather than focusing on people like Redbull & Dolby in this thread? http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,334657.0.html

Seriously - why is the guy insulting peoples dead family, or the guy saying I hope your first born dies in your arms, or the one letting loose with a torrent of racist bile, not a big deal, but when someone gets muted for referring to someone by their actual ingame name and complains about it, you all jump on your high horses and support the faceless moderators and tell the guy who feels he has been wronged to STFU?
