As you said, there have been several of these threads recently (maybe I should post this response in all of them
)...and they got me thinking.
It's not completely wrong to focus on the cardinal points of 'You broke the rules, you get punished, deal with it - and e-mail HTC if you have a problem instead of making a whine thead', because all that is absolutely correct as far as it goes.
The point that I think is being missed, or simply ignored, by most of the self-righteous brigade, is the terrible inconsistency of the moderation. As detailed in the various threads on the subject, there is tons of personal abuse going on in game over both open and private channels. There is a wealth of inappropriate language that gets around the swear-filter while the intended vulgarity still remains completely clear. You see all kinds of ranting and raving about political crap, racism, and the same few people giving orders and attacking people who don't play their way on country channel over and over again.
Shouldn't the moderators be focusing on cleaning up some of that crap (I appreciate that they can't be there all the time and prevent all of it, no need to rehash that particular weak defense) rather than focusing on people like Redbull & Dolby in this thread?
