And I don't know where in the hell you guys live but that is completely psychotic. No one down here would believe a lick of that...but I guess that's because you folks probably live in bigger towns.
Down here folks still wave when you drive by each other on the road, our police enforce the law, and we're bored out of our minds a lot but we wouldn't trade it for a big city if you dropped 30 million on our laps.
I lived in NY for my first 34 years or so...the above incident happened when I was about 21. The ex-friend in question was not entirely "stable" truth be told and he collected assault rifles (not the best mix).
I remember when I was in middle school, we had 7 riots (5 to 30 students involved each incident) in one day. A friend of mine was stabbed in school when I was in 11th grade,
and the year after I graduated someone was shot and killed during a basketball game at my high school.
Now I live in a nice small town in Virginia, and say "hello" to people as you walk down the street instead of wondering if you will get jumped, offered drugs, prostitutes, mugged or shot.
MarineUS,
Below is a quick link of recent violent crime in my home town and immediate surrounding area. I grew up in Brentwood, the above friend was from Central Islip which is also listed:
