WW1 Single frame event
« on: August 18, 2012, 11:26:00 AM »
On months where there is 5 friday's I think it'd be a fun chance to go out and run a single WW1 frame just for a "celebration" of FSO.  Call it a chance to just enjoy some combat in things we don't usually fly or a "Social Frame" or whatever.  2 weeks without FSO sucks...

I of course would not expect there not to be as full of a compliment as normal FSO's.  That's where the planners could easily have some fun and grouping the squads together with some sneaky tactical fun.

Thoughts?
"Maybe there are 5,000, maybe 10,000 Nazi bastards in their concrete foxholes before the Third Army. Now if Ike stops holding Monty's hand and gives me some supplies, I'll go through the Siegfried Line like %&# through a goose"

A Snap Shot type event on the off Fridays using the same terrain and set up would be fun.  But it would have to be supported and controlled by the CM's who are currently underpaid and overworked  :)

Ten60 I know AKkuya normally puts up a "informal" large mission (bombers and escorts) in the main arena on Thursday evenings.  Those are fun because I believe he lets the other side know were coming  :lol

And there are the normal snap shot events on Wednesdays as well and those can be fun and all walk on events.

Perhaps the Allied, Axis or both sides could organize something for the upcoming scenario DGS.

I do have ideas for certain events in between FSOs, unfortunately I usually am doing real life stuff in between FSOs. This winter I should be able to plan and help host off week events for FSO.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The Battle of St. Mihiel

German Empire - ~500 Aircraft
Royal Prussian Jagdgeschwader Nr. II, for the most part, flying the Fokker D.VII.

Allies - ~1400 Aircraft
Most Allied forces flew Airco DH4 with some also flying the Sopwith Camel.
Here's a potential mission?

I agree Ten60.
Squire should make them run something on the off Friday's. CM's are over paid anyway or retired like 68Falcon with nothing to do but chase around grand kids.

Well I know I'm really new and don't really know much about how to run this stuff, but I'd be more than willing to learn and/or help out with it in anyway possible.  So if someone feels like throwing this together let me know.

I'd be happy to set up a custom arena featuring classic fighter matchups. You guys think of a good matchup and ill make a setup with it

Summer is for BBQs, trips, visiting, getting ready for going back to school, moving, ect so I think 2 weeks off at the end of August is just what the doctor ordered. Go have fun in the sun, recharge your batteries and will cya all back here in September.  :salute

As for a WW1 setup as a "one off" in a 2 week break? yes, at some point I can see us doing that. That would be fun. Will keep it on the radar.

How about November 30th?  5 Fridays in the month and it'll be the week after Turkey Day.

How about a May 31st date for this?  I still think it'd be fun and a very popular event.
