I was on the phone with a friend (professional fisherman) about a half an hr ago, He is out of Barnegate NJ. We were talking about the NOAA SLOSH report....and he mentioned that one of the buoys measured a 44ft wave....

NWS PHI Briefing Package #9

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/phi/briefing/packages/current_briefing.pdf

Irene                        Sandy

Rain    11.27"                      11" locally
Surge   6.2'
                      11.5' +
wind    50mph w/60 mph gust         60mph w/75 gust

Dangerous in a small fishing boat. I was at sea from"94 to"99 , bartender waiter  , loved rough seas ,made my job easy; seasick passengers used to come in restaurant order green apples, lemons and back to cabins .

The real damage will occur when the storm goes inland and dumps it's rain on the higher elevations.

The water will head back downhill.

best fishing i ever had was hours before a hurricane. when i fished commercially.

i fished the day before hurricane bob. filled the boat in 20 minutes. fish sense the barometric drop and go nuts.

A lot of people who are upside down in boat or yachts will surely be putting them in harms way.

A few weeks from now will be a sweet time to buy fixer upper yachts.

View from my window. So far, not a lot of rain, just lots of wind.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

i'm still here at the shop working. just finished torching/drilling/re-tapping a broken exhaust manifold bolt on a dakota that apparently thinks it's a ford(the other mechanics here will get it). now i have to drop the tranny out of a 2010 altima for a new clutch.....which i can't get today. but at least i'll be able to have accomplished something.

what hurts, is that my month was going poorly, as far as numbers go. i had a chance to bring it up this week.....but now.......gonna finish the month off with a big loss.
