Ooooooo. I like this a lot. Except you neglected a small factoid: most of the DA regulars are F3 gamers and while I find most of them fearless of the MA, I do find most of them ego-bound to the DA for their dependence on F3 gunnery.
I don't think it as widespread as the non-lake players believe. I find it very easy to tell who is using F3 to shoot (perhaps because I've been there a long time) but apparently most MA regulars can't and show up already thinking everybody does this and when they get shot (at all) it seems to confirm it for them. Remember there was a core of F3 players from H2H, but most of them have gone now.
Do you still frequent the place shida? ... it was quite a different place when you and ardy...and there were a few others there helping others out a couple/three years back...surely if you look back at that time you can see that there has been a steady decline of competitiveness at the lake..there is much more bully tactics there now.
The lake is the lake I know...but it too had a good vibe...now though...in my opinion it is like a little club and if you are not a member you are out... in reflection though...it is good thing as I prefer not to be known as a member
Yes I still go Tongs, I divide the little time I have to play presently equally between MA and DA. There was a spate of squads that resulted in very gang-like play for quite a while but it's died down now. There is a great bunch of guys there at the moment when I fly. A core of pure dogfighters. Most tune to 258 across country and just have a laugh. There are some very good sticks.
The Breakfast Club era was probably the golden age for respecting a good fight and staying out, but it always took energy to keep up good sportsmanship. Usually the first Tempests to show up marked a change in the day.
The regulars in the DA, to me, seem to be guys who just want to dogfight. Maybe all they like is dogfighting, maybe they are just trying to practice dogfighting.
This is a pretty accurate observation in my opinion. As I said there is a second tier of players who want to prey on the dogfighters when they are busy. I believe this explains the OP's frustration at the 262s.
The furball lake can be a lot of fun, and a great place to work on your technique. Just leave your prejudices and ego at the door and join in. If you don't like it don't go, and if you don't go don't criticise it, imho.
