I watched the pregame stuff, and paid attention to the ND players' behavior before kickoff.  You could tell as they waited for the Bama players to leave the locker room and tunnel and get to the field that they were uncomfortable.  Then, when the captains met for the coin toss, I told my fiancee' that the game was over, cause ND was intimidated, and that was before the kickoff.
Once the game started, it was clear, at least to me, that the ND players knew they didn't belong on the same field with Alabama.  They weren't ready, mentally or physically, and it only took about three plays to confirm that.  From that point on, I channel surfed and didn't watch the game because the outcome was already decided.
It reminded me of a few years back with Ohio State went into the game as #1, and got destroyed by Florida.  That #1 ranking didn't mean squat when it came time to play the game.  Same ole same ole nonsense BCS ranking system at play once again.

Wasn't that just a pitiful game for the National Championship? Who in the hell decides the ranking going into these things. How could Notre Dame even remotely be considered #1 going in and get beat so handily?

The only thing I can figure is these bowl games and rankings are solely designed for who can bring in the biggest TV viewing audience. The #1 ranked team can't score one single point?! Does the Amish community set the rankings or what?
ND's legacy is why.  To the NCAA they are next to god.  They do no wrong in their eyes.  Thats my OP but im sure im wrong lol.

Just think of the 2007 game between Ohio State and Florida.  Ohio State was #1 and a huge favorite, and they were just blown out of the stadium. It's the level of play in the conferences that is so different, and right now the SEC is far beyond anyone else.

If a "major power" like Notre Dame goes undefeated, and there isn't another (bowl eligible) undefeated team in the nation, the "major power", in this case Notre Dame, is going to be in the national championship game.  Period.  The BCS ranking system is set up to make it so.  ND wasn't even ranked to start the season.

The problem is that without a playoff, teams don't play enough games against each other to really know how strong of a schedule each team has played.  Playoffs are necessary, and the more teams in them the better.  The upcoming four team playoff needs to be a mere stopgap before they expand it to 8 or 16.  They do 32 team playoffs in lower college divisions.

Saw a news Alert

BREAKING NEWS: Obama has stepped in and decided that Alabama got too many points yesterday and has redistributed some of those points to Notre Dame resulting in a tie in the game and a tie for the national championship. When asked for a comment, Obama said, "Alabama obviously got more than their fair share. They didn't win that all by themselves! What does one team need all those points for"?

That'll be all...

After that blowout, it was pretty obvious ND did not belong in the title game. You compare the schedules of the two teams and have to ask yourself, why in the heck was ND at the top ranking prior to the BCS showdown?? Thats crazy. The SEC Plays at an entirely different level than what ND is accustomed to seeing. I watched the Stanford vs ND game end in OT with a ND victory because of a blown call by an official. Replay after replay showed the running back Taylor had scored but the official ruled he had blown the whistle ending the play. None of the players on either team heard that whistle.......pretty obvious in the replay he scored. Stanford pushed the ND line around just like Alabama.  If Stanford had brought in Hogan as their QB, ND would not have been in the title game. Stanford has a good team, but they don't play any of the SEC teams either. I would have preferred to see Oregon or a team that deserved their ranking play Alabama. That would have been a game.  I am sure Alabama could beat Oregon, but at least it would not have been a blowout. With the score 28-0 at halftime, half the ND fans had left he stadium. The Rolltide could have really run up the score. When the score got to 35-0, the defense let up. We saw Saban get mad and he chewed 'em out. If ND wants to compete for the National championship they really need to put some of the top SEC teams on their schedule or you will see another laugher should they meet again.
